My Friend made a vapo out of a lightbulb...

I have to heat the bulb with a flame. Will it explode in my face?

I would have posted this in the random section but it looks like noone goes there. after someone tells me this thread can be locked or closed, whatever you want to do with it.

Haha yea it is a ridiculous idea, but tons of people do it. You won't die or anything...not immediately, anyway. Just don't put the flame right on the bulb (the area right above the visible flame is actually extremely hot, so use that), and don't put the flame right on the weed.

im not sure but i think crack heads smoke thiers out of light bulbs. if crackheads do it......prolly not the best of ideas.

thats a stupid idea, Bulbs are made of thin glass that is pressurised inside, I wouldnt want to risk getting my eye taken out when it bursts, I've seen bulbs pop just by having grease on them (changed an incandescant with olive oil residue on my fingers).

If you wanna make a cheap ass vapouriser modify a soldering gun (not an iron), they push out heat in a huge burst and work quite well.

If you remove the metal base from the bulb, you should easily be able to heat it without it popping...

Do a little research, you dont use a light bulb that is plugged in. Its really not the coolest idea out there but it does work.

Yeah thats what you do...it's actually fairly simple to get the base off, you just leave the metal threads.

I actually like it better than say a headshop cheap vapo...with the metal heat plate. Tastes better anyways.

Cons: Smoking out of a lightbulb makes you feel like a crackhead
You have to cap the bulb before you heat/hit it which makes it more complicated
you should clean the bulb well...even then you dont *know* if you got it completely clean


If you REALLY REALLY want to vape shit and dont have money to spend on something this may be an option....just a bad one anyways.

lol, i remember trying this like a year ago. it worked, but not like a real vaporizer, i guess that's why they refer this to as a 'cheap' alternative. you gotta be careful with heat.. burning usually. but yea makes you feel like a crackhead for sure. lol

funny that i JUST now got an email saying i subscribed to this thread...anyways just hit some hot knives on the stove....actually a better alternative to a lightbulb...but if you are smoking out of a lightblub, you may not have access to a stove for this use

go to the do it yourself forum and follow the plans for one of the sauldering iron ones. Smoking out of a light bulb is just way too crack fiendish
