My Growitup Greenhouse Build
Grow Journal will follow.
Hi People, I was having trouble scoring bud for my ailments so I got legal. Now I’m a patent here in Cali and a care giver for a couple others. I have been growing inside for a while now and with everyone’s help here I have been successful. These have been Cabinet grows mostly. My first one I had a room though. Anyway I think I can keep some plants alive through a natural season.
I picked up a lot here but didn’t find any greenhouse builds or grows for that matter. All I have done is hydro so I would like some opinions on my ideas.
I am building a greenhouse that’s 12ft by 8ft in the back corner of my yard.
The area has a southern exposure but the house shades it from early morning sun.
2x4 construction with clear polycarbonate panels on the top and white on the sides.
Greenhouse will be vented with vents bottom and an intake fan. Exhaust will be three roof vents that open at 75° and close automatically at 55° cool huh? Then a couple small windows with screen (and rebar) with a small air conditioner for temps over 90°
I still need to get a dehumidifier.
Even though I am legal, I would rather people didn’t know about it. People steal things and I am going to make it as tough as I can to get inside this without making a bunch of noise. On the other hand I’m not rich so it’s Home Depot and Lowes for supplies.
I gave myself a budget of $800
Here are more plans I drew up with paint
This will house 12 plants. The 6 plants in the front will be trained and kept at about 48" and the plants in the back I will prune for height, about 72"
I’m going with a brick floor for stability and drainage so plants will be in pots. 7 gallon pots for the back row and 5 gallon for the front. Not sure of the soil mix yet. Maybe layers of different mixes with more flower nutes at the bottom. I don’t know…
I will be using the end of an existing patio for part of the flooring,
Watering will be automated by timer and drip system with a reservoir to add nutes as needed. I want misters to be a similar design. I don’t know how much pressure it takes to run those things though.
I want something like this inside.
OK, Well I started this a week ago so I will bring ya all up to date.
Here is the area,
3/13
Took me a couple days to get the plants out of there and moved the shed over a bit.
3/16
3/18
I got the stumps out today and went and got some lumber.
Tomorrow I start construction by sinking a few 4x4's and leveling out the area. I will be using 1 in of sand then pavers (thin cement blocks) just set in the sand and filled between. I found out it would cost $800 to pour a cement pad and that would be my whole budget. This floor will cost about $100
By the way, I am not a carpenter Im a salesman by trade so if someone sees me screwing this thing up feel free to give me a heads up. Im not an electrician either but Im gonna run power out here. I just figure shit up as I go along.
That’s about it, all comments and suggestions are welcome.
