My honest opinion on ONA gel

So a while ago I bought 1L of ONA gel PRO for £16.99 from fleabay, this was to ready me and cover up the small amount of scent that might sneak past my carbon filter, or get out when I open the door or am harvesting.
Opened it up 2 days ago and the smell was overwhelming, I poured a third of it into a pot that hangs next to my exhaust vent so that as the air blows out it flows over the pot and blows into the room that the cabinet is in.
The smell filled the house, even with the door closed, it can be smelt at least mildly in all of the rooms.
The Pro stuff smells of a launderette in my opinion but is a nice smell. for a small grow I reckon it could be used as more of a primary filter method instead of just a backup, at least through the veging stage.
So that's MHO on ONA gel and I will definitely keep using it.

A quick question, has anyone heard of ONA being used in a filter of some sort?
this is my idea:

The air goes into the top hole, and then flows through the inverted piece of pipe over all of the gel and then out through the smaller holes.
Thanks

ive used it in the car but i like growing other plants to mask smell along with a good filter....
I like the idea of other plants, I have heard of that before, mainly used outside the front door, to cover the smell to the postman etc. My worry with it was most plants don't small all year round.
I agree on a good filter being VERY useful, I just think that there can be cheaper and stronger additions to them.
Thanks for your reply man :)

i like your idea very much, lavender flowers in 90 days so i couple it perfectly with my veg flower cycles to always have 4 lavender plants flowering at all times......smells great and you can use the flowers to make your topicals smell great!

Ona gel is not suppose to cover smell with a nice odor, It is a Odor Neutralizing Agent, O.N.A, it absorbs odors. you are suppose to blow air into it.

That's a good idea, do you keep them inside or are they outside the house, I know the only problem I'd have is I'd forget to water it hahahaha

I agree about the neutralizing, but at the same time it does give out a smell even the PRO one which doesn't have a scent written on it. the thing is alot of neutralising chemicals give off their own smell, due to the mixture used, its also handy when it starts to become un-effective, as it gets old, as at least it has some effect.

I like the ONA buckets with the built in fan, but at the same time surely it's better to have the air containing the smell, to hit the gel, instead of waiting for it to disperse into the room, then combating it.
my current system is a small container hanging from the outlet vent cover. I have also attached a piece of carrier bag above it which acts as an air director, without limiting the flow.

I wouldn't put it in the room with flowers, it will suck the smell right out of them.
