my hps caught on fire need advice

Ok so the lights in my house randomly went out doesn't usually happen they went off for about 3 seconds and turned back on by them selves I seen that that happened so I ran to see my grow room the light was off so I switched the switch to turn it off I left it of for a minute after the light came back on but when I did it sparked from the rear of my hps light and the inside was on fire luckily I was able to blow it out and I I'm sure it got messed up cuz it smelled burned what should I do to my 3 plants under it because I don't have a back up light should I just harvest PLEASE SOMEONE ADVICE ME what would you do ??

I would run down to your local hydro store and ask for a bottle of Canna Common Sense....that shit will solve any problems with your grow....

I would try to get some kinda light in there, just to disrupt darkness, and get a new bulb, one should always have a spare bulb, kinda like driving without a spare tire m8.
If the plants are ready, if not, finish them properly, it is a win- win for sure.

Cheap and dirty option if you don't have a hydro store available. Go to a hardware store or wal-mart. Pick up a cheap 3-5 bulb bathroom fixture, a pack of 13 or 26 watt CFL's, a grounded plug and maybe an extension cord if you don't have a spare. Shouldn't cost more than $30-40. It may not be the best but it will at least give them some light until you can get a proper fix squared away.

Bonus, if you have the spare money to spring for CREE LED bulbs you can have some great supplemental lighting.

Kind of doubt it was the bulb that caught fire.


Buy a new ballast and bulb, or tear the ballast down and repair if you can. Or buy a different type of light all together.

If you get a power cut or shortage ...leave your hps turned off for 20 minutes before turning on again..the booklet states that when you purchase one....scarecrow77

How do you need to ask what to do? Either you give them light, or you chop them. ah right, the confusion, my bad, just keep on growing them, plants don't need light.
