Just wanted to get opinions on my off the shelf weed farm hydroponic solution. I wanted to use off the shelf stuff to produce a hydroponic formulation which will produce for me. I used the hydrobuddy program and I am using only 4 ingredients. For example here is what I put into my 2250 gallon mix tank:
"Calcinit" (Calcium Nitrate) -- 2.89 kg -- $3.15
"Super Triple Phosphate" (Calcium Monobasic Phosphate) -- 2.39 kg -- $3.56
"General Hydroponics pH UP" (Potassium Carbonate) -- 157 g -- $1.58
"Jacks Hydroponic 5-12-26" (Nutrient blend) -- 6.67 kg -- $57 -- (or as low as $30, depends on availability)
- That's less than 3 pennies per gallon. Under 2 cents if you get a deal on the Jack's. It adds up though, because I think that we are going to go through 200,000 gallons of nutrient water. That's around $3,500 to $5,800 depending.
Jacks is not on the shelf everywhere. I can't believe it's so hard to find in Humboldt county still. Anyway here's the PPM breakdown of all the stuff blended:
N (NO3-) 79.346
K 178.841
P 110.184
Mg 49.333
Ca 102.446
S 192.633
Fe 2.349
Zn 0.117
B 0.392
Cu 0.117
Mo 0.078
Na 0
Si 0
Cl 0
Mn 0.392
total 712 PPM
Considerations: Sulfur seems high. Super triple phosphate is supposedly 90% soluble. I don't know one way or another but I bumped the phosphorus up at least 10% to accomodate. Plus I like high phos because my 10 greenhouses are all at different stages of growth and I like to keep the stretch going. Light dep has more penetration than any other growing technique due to the sun position in the sky, so I like big long sea of green buds all crammed together. Nitrogen is pretty low but I'm using mystery soil that was said to be new, commercial dumptrucks full, sitting for a couple of years. I'm doing 7 gallon grow bags so we should be able to spend the existing nitrogen down fairly well. This year I refuse to over-nitrogen. It is so very easy to do.
The only things I'm adding to this mix are (1) molasses at 1tsp/gallon and (2) a simple earthworm compost tea added by venturi on my irrigation lines. Done, and done. Perhaps I should do a grow log with pictures?
