They're about a month old & I haven't started flowering yet. Does anyone know if this is normal? I think it smells great but it doesn't exactly smell like amazing weed lol

ya plants in veg don't smell as skinky as those in the mid-to late stages of flower. My paticular strain reeks of tomatoes. Then when it flowers it smells like a skunk humped a gumibear.

Young plants don't have the terpinoid oils yet that give the plant it's wonderful aroma. While my flowering tent has a 6" vortex with a carbon scrubber for odors, my nursery closet for seedlings and veg does not, because they're not really smelly. They do smell like plant, but not weed. Try rubbing your fingers on the stalk or stem and then sniff. That might give you a hint of the aroma to come.

Yeah mine don't start stinking very dank until I've vegged for a month or so under t5's. I love the smell in my flower box when the fans are shut off. Its like a little slice of heaven. Stock up on incense, plug-ins, candles, room sprays etc. You could also make a home made charcoal filter with that exhaust fan setup you have there. They be stankin before you know it!

Yeah, I burn incense anyways & the smell is really strong already, just minty... that's why i thought it it may be an issue. For example, I'll toke in my apartment even a joint or a blunt, and if I leave and come back its gone within the hour but the plants make my whole apartment smell like toothpaste... Idk it's odd haha

Rather than wasting money on perfumes or scents to try and mask growing marijuana, you are better off eliminating it instead. Carbon scrubber should be a requirement for indoor growing. Even I started a grow with no idea.... I thought, how can a plant called Bubblelicious smell skunky? LOL Ozone generators work well, I swear by the CAP-1 Ozone generator. I have one installed near my front door on a 30 min on/30 min off timer. The ozone eliminates odor atoms by attaching to them and causing them to fall to a surface. If anyone at my front door says they smell fresh weed, they are lying.

I use it all except the ozone. My scrubbers work pretty well and my boxes are also in an enclosed room but I can't remove all of it. I have an ozone generator in my cart on Amazon and its the same one you have. I think you just sold me on it! You know how it is once you cultivate for awhile. Your nose becomes immune to the smell of dank!

Is this the one you have Serapis?

That is the one, but that is overpriced... I got mine from New England Hydro for $119.00 just 4 weeks ago... Try the Google shopping search feature. I use carbon scrubbers, but when I open my tent to chop or care for the plants, the scrubber is useless and the odor fills the house. The ozone generator addresses that, plus it leaves up to 5500 square feet of squeaky clean air.

Ozone generators are harmful to health:

Decreases in lung function

Aggravation of asthma

Throat irritation and cough

Chest pain and shortness of breath

Inflammation of lung tissue

Higher susceptibility to respiratory infection

from here:
http://www.epa.gov/iaq/pubs/ozonegen.html#how%20is%20ozone%20harmful

I would say that used wisely, these could be okay. On for thirty minutes and then when the smell is gone open up a window and let the ozone out.

By the way what strain are you growing?? I am jealous
:)

Exactly.... Open the door and the entire place is contaminated with odor. Thx for the input, I'm scoring one this week.

I have been using an ozone generator for almost a year now. The CAP-1 replaced my Ozone Jr CAP One. The government never defines in that source what they consider high concentrations of ozone.

Ozone is now known to be natures most powerful disinfectant and oxidant and can even kill microbial contaminates like E-coli, Candida, Listeria, Staph, Salmonella, Giardia and Cryptosporidium more effectively than dangerous conventional disinfectants like chlorine or bleach. In fact, ozone kills E-coli more than 3,000 times faster than chlorine.

When ozone is created, it seeps into crevices, carpets, drapes, furniture, under beds, in closets, on countertop surfaces and other places where normal air currents are minimal or even non-existent.

When the extra oxygen atom splits off from the ozone molecule, two things happen: disinfection and oxidation. This happens as these atoms quickly destroy the bacteria, mold, mildew and odor as soon as they come into contact. The end result is clean breathable oxygen. http://www.understandingozone.com/uses.asp

Ozone kills bacteria, molds, mildews, etc. While I understand health concerns, the EPA is blowing it out of proportion. The concentrations are only dangerous if they reach high levels, and they don't give us a figure that i can see. I never have to worry about mildews or mold spores in my home. The smell of my grow doesn't escape my house. I have piece of mind. I love my Ozone generator.
