i posted about this problem a few days ago and still have not figured things out...

problem: 2 of my 12 girls are dieing

symptoms: server drooping, browning/yellowing

details: during veg everything was fine.. healthy and happy... went from 24/0 to 36 hours straight dark to 12/12... during which time i ran 1/4 strength nutes through the girls... actually it was ran for 5 days total starting with the 36 hours of dark to this last wednesday.. symptoms appeared the second day of 12/12 and progressed from there... today is day 7... day 5 if you dont count the 36 hours of dark....

growing in - ebb and flow, hydroton medium, floods 4x a day 15 minutes a time

2 different strains showing signs... super lemon haze and blue hash... only 1 bluehash in the setup.. but i do have 2 other super lemon haze girls that are completely fine...

PH - 5.8 to 6.2

water temp - 66 to 68 F

EC - during first 5 days .8/1.0... currently 1.4

roots are white and strong

plenty of ventilation/air movement

did cut back to 3x floods a day with no improvement...

all the plants are hooked together on 1 main reservoir... they get treated EXACTLY the same.. fed the same..

so there is the patients portfolios... pics of the sick girls and the rest of the girls for comparison... they are a little yellow because of they ran low on nutes during the 1/4 strength nute run for those days... any more information that may need provided i will be more than happy to provide..

one last note.. i have pretty much resigned myself to the fact that these two girls are going to die... but i want to get to the bottom of the problem so that i will know for the future...

ec was at .8 to 1.0 during the start of the occurance...

current ec is at 1.4.... all other plants are completely fine...

ph ranges between 5.8 and 6.3....

roots are white and healthy..... and again, the rest of the plants are fine with watering.. i cut back from 4 floods to 3 floods a day with no signs of improvement...

i have 7 strains total.. 12 plants

white shark 2
gigabud 1
strawberry cough 1
matanuska tundra 3
blueberry 1
super lemon haze 3
and blue hash.. 1

the first 5 strains are fine...

only 1 of the super lemon haze are acting this way.. the other 2 are fine..

and of course the only blue hash i have is doing the same thing..

the ones that are acting fucked are the blue hash and super lemon haze

Even with 2 of 3 of the same strain in the same environment doing fine, I would conclude that it is not something in the environment that they all have in common. I don't know how you go about trying to isolate a cause that the one lemon haze was exposed to and the other two weren't. I'd be tempted to call it crib death and without other info, conclude that that one lemon haze seed just had a problem and was doomed from the start. A lot of growers would be happy with 10 of 12 thriving.

im willing to give any information that will help out in diagnosing...

i am happy with 10 girls thriving.. but i am a perfectionist.. and want all 12 to be.. i know at this point its not going to happen.. but getting to the bottom of it is the main concern of mine... for future grows...

How is the base of the main stem?

How long did it take for the plant to get like that?

I ask because I had a couple girls just completely dive on me as well. I sprouted them in rockwool cubes and the top kept growing mold. I think it was a combination of the top being heavy and a weak base that lead to a rotting main stem. That would definitely cut off water and nutrients above it and cause all of that dying off.

All i could do was cut off the best branches and clone them.

Good luck

the base of the stem is fine.. no mold.. no brown build up... and very thick.. i keep constant air movement on them...

the inside of the stems are fine to.. i cut off a couple lower branches to see if there was any internal signs of rot or fungus growing... insides of them were nice and white... very healthy looking..

after the 36 hours of dark it took 2 days for those two to turn like they are now... but prior to the dark period and start of 12/12 they were completely fine..

not all plants react to 36 hours of darkness the same, ive bnever used 36 hours of darknes for fear of messing with their bilogical clock or something.but it could be that it messed with a few plants in a negative way,it could of messed with its hormones that change from veg to flowering.just a guess.

i've always done 24 to 36 hours of dark..

i thought about that being a cause.. extreme shock from going from 24/0 to 36 hours straight dark to 12/12.. which could be the case.. and they just happened to be weaker than the rest...

im sad to see them the way they are.. hopefully they perk back up..

WHICH by the way brings me to another symptom..

a few branches have uprighted themselves and look completely healthy... that is when the lights come on... by the end of the day they seem to be drooping down... the ones that were standing up that is... as far as the location on the plant its random.. top and bottom in spots.. but only a few branches... 5 or 6...

So how do they look now?

I know how you feel bro, they are like children. But if you've grown enough plants and played around with clones you are bound to lose one or two for whatever reasons.

After going through your same situation I changed it up to growing many small plants instead of larger ones. I can tell you that they are a lot easier to manage. In my experience the longer you have to care for the plant more chances you have to screw them up.

Good luck

there has been no improvement in them.. but im not surprised...

i've grown a few years now and thought i'd seen it all.. its the switch from soil to hydro that has given me the most problems this grow.. not the hydro itself.. been mostly things i've done.. but thats another story...

i really just wanted to try to figure this out for future grows.. i guess what bothers me the most isnt losing the 2 plants.. its not knowing why...

the way my setup will be, and since im not legal, i need to keep numbers low... basically i'll be on a 60 day rotation... so the plants will end up with about a 2 month veg time either way... i've thought about a sog grow or at least more smaller plants.. maybe not quite 12/12 from clone small.. and my system can handle up to 48 plants so i could do it.. but i've progressed to far in the construction of a seperate flower room to switch back.. and like i said the main thing is keeping my numbers low.. just in case....
