Need a little cold-frame info

High!, so Im planning on getting a grow going next season, I am just wondering if it is going to work out.

I can't start them indoors so they will be going in a cold-frame until I feel they are old/strong enough to be outdoors. I will be doing 6 CBD CREW: SHARK SHOCK and 3 LA CON.

I just want to know if its a challenge to start plants in a cold frame, is it really hard? how will they do compared to starting them indoors?

Can I have a successful harvest using this method, starting in cold frame?

Thanks allot,

it can be challenging..........over-heating is more common than freezing. temps must be managed throughout the day, by opening/closing it. use 2L soda bottles filled with water to help temper your coldframe. i also like bricks or blocks painted black to absorb excess heat and release it at night.

yes, but that will let the cold in at night, most people open and close their cold frames to manage temps

One mistake and your plants could die. Especially seedlings and younger plants. If it heats up to bad they will also be affected. If its flat on the ground with nothing in between then the earth will suck up all the heat at night adding to other issues. I say lay bricks or wood down and build ontop of that. Also be careful of some animals. Like coons, rodents, rabbits. They get curious about that stuff. One damaged wall could be a fatal cold leak. Constant observing would be nessasary. Night time you would need to check id periodicly id assume unless your using heavy duty material like plexi glass. By all means go ahead and try it. Just please post your results. It will help educate others.

If you can manage to keep the fame in between 60s-80s at all times i see no reason why she wouldnt turn out as good as any other plants if worst comes to worst and they make it to flowering you could always take clones from her and reveg them as winter begins to end. That way you still have a jumpstart for next year and if grown right some 1lb clones. where i live were gonna get close to 2-3 feet of snow. I have tried this method but failed the snow just became to much and i had to pull the plug. I took clones and grew em inside to veg then around june1st i planted em. Now its october and a clone from that clone just finished.
