Need a little input from some secret jardin users.

Hi, its been a while for me on here, dealing with a hectic life is stressful. But i finally got some money put up and i want to do a new setup. i was thinking about doing a secret jardin dr90 pro II, with a 600w digital ballast hps,and vent room/light with a 6" can fan. possibly a 4" inline duct fan for an intake or go passive?

A 400 watt is more than enough for that tent. If you already have the 600 watt light, get the DR120. With 6" duct adapters and larger size, it is better suited for a 600 watter.

I don't exactly have the room for the 120, I only have about 3.5'x6' of space and I wanted to do a veg area down the road. I do not have the light yet, but I was looking to invest in the light now, and work on getting more space down the road. The 400 would save me some money on both ends, light bill and fixture cost, and I only want to have 4-6 small/medium plants. I do predominantly indicas. Would the 600 be too much or could I get away with it if my venting is strong enough? Or would I be in a heat battle I can't win?

Not such good advice earlier. The footprint of the typical 600 hood is 3.5' x 3.5' so a 600 is perfect. The 600 is also much more efficient as well. You get twice as many lumens for only 50% more power consumption. Your going to get a digi ballast anyways so you can have the best of both worlds. 400 for veg and then blast those fuckers with the 600 for flower. You will definitely like the results :)

Just my 2 cents but IMO the 600 is a better long term investment

Decided I'm going with the 600 any way its only 20 dollars more, no point in not getting it. If heat becomes an issue I can always get an ac unit for the tent. Thanks for the input everyone. I'll be posting a grow soon as I order my equipment, already got 4 babies goin so I can't wait to see some hid results.

I have a new question, would a cool tube be better or a vented hood? I'm sure the cool tube would keep a 3x3 tent cooler than the regular hood would, but how is light distribution on the tubes, is it true they tend to give hot spots? I was originally going with the vented hood, but s friend has been pushing the tube idea, so now I'm stuck. Any help is appreciated, and thanks in advance.

All I can say is this, when choosing a hood don't even think about price. The hood is probably THE most important part of the operation yet many people think that the cheapest hood that is kind of shaped like what the expect it to be is the best one. I would not suggest a cool tube. You want a very well designed hood that puts out an even throw of light. Don't sacrifice your light dispersion for the sake of a few degrees of temperature.

Check out this thread and you'll see what I mean.... http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=51325&page=25

There is quite a difference between the ACTUAL performance of different hoods. If you have a 5 foot length and you need an AC reflector then I would point you towards a 6" magnum XXXL. My veg tent is almost exactly that size, I tested the magnum XXXL and the adjust a wing. The adjusta wing threw off more light in a larger area but its not AC.

Apparently you were not listening. You pay for shit and guess what you get? Shit.

You said your tent is 3.5 x 6' ? I'm confused to the point that I'm over it. I'm sure whatever you get will be fine.

I'm sorry if I confused you, but the space I have available for a tent is about 3.5x6, that's why I was looking for something to fit inside of these dimensions. Could only find a 3x3, this is what a dr90 is. I am looking for a light setup for that tent. But you think those reflectors are crap? That's why I ask because I can't tell from pics I try to find personal experiences. What would you use for a 3x3, and again I am sorry for apparently misleading you.

If your running a 600 maybe bump up to a 4 x6 tent if you can find one. I don't have any experience with that reflector so I guess I can't say for certain that its crap but HTG sells allot of really cheap asian import crap. That reflector doesn't have any angles in the reflective material either which isn't a good sign. In that small space I would go with a super sun II. They don't throw really wide but man of man do they shoot off some high intensity light.

I can get my SS II within about 10" of the plants without burning them and manage over 100,000 LUX with a ushio 600 HPS. I DON'T keep them that close as it is a little too much. I keep them around 14" and the plants are getting 90k lux. The best footprint is around 3.4 ' from the long sides and 3 feet from the short ends (the ends with the ducting).

Cheeers.

Thanks for the input, Im going to have to do a lot more research before I buy anything. I may have to build my own tent, one to fit my space instead of trying to buy one.
