Hi, I am on my first grow and have a problem with the air pump. (I posted this twice, mistaken about how subscriptions worked and thought it did not go through. sorry, my bad. Not badgering. Just newb.)
The air pump is LOUD and sucks up a 80 watts of power. It is currently in the cabinet to lessen the noise but the heat is causing the DWC buckets nearest it to register 5 to 7 degrees hotter then the other buckets farther away. I have been able to get the sound down to 'livable' but from my perspective not great. Some people use Pond Pumps instead of the eco or sunleaves 'commercial' pumps to pump air. The pumps, like Hakko and Alita, are generally reviewed as quiet, use much less energy, and it seems that they can be placed farther away from the stones, IE outside the grow room while still producing a similar amount of Liters per minuet.
Any suggestions, advice or experience with the pond pumps is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Idra
General setup:
DWC
6 buckets, 8 is possible but crowded with little working area.
400 Watt lamp.
80 Watt Sunleaves air pump.
80 watt vortex fan running with at about 50% with a speed controller.
12 inch oscillating fan.
