Need Advice On This Cabinet.

The cab is about 3x3x1.5 Built like a file cabinet with doors
I wanna go DWC with that black tub in there or a smaller one, just one or two personal plants. They could be small plants too.
Im just not sure about lighting or ventilation. I have fans, do I really need intake/exhaust? What if I go CFL, will I not have to worry about heat? I was gonna line the walls with foil. If I have to get an exhaust, do I have to get a carbon filter or something to kill the smell? Any suggestions please!

Even with CFLs that will get quite hot with no ventilation. Plants need air to breath as well - they can grow with less of it but just like you will not function at 100% of its potential. Do you care about the smell? Even if you don't vent it you will have pot stench. I would recommend getting a legit carbon filter (the small ones are only $50) and a legit inline fan (not a vent ducting fan or booster fan). Just alot easier to go with the right equipment from the start and should end up being a bit cheaper as well.

Ideally you would have the carbon filter in the enclosure with ducting leading out of it where it would connect with the fan. If you do not have enough space you could push through the filter instead of pulling through it - this is not ideal but as long as you make sure there are no leaks it would work.

If you don't care about the smell get a round inline duct booster fan and punch a hole in the ac and slap the fan into it. These move a bit of air but can't push through filters or ducting very well so just use it to exchange air with nothing attached.

ok, I got my carbon filter and fan. Any input on where to mount it and where to put the intake?

Are you going HID or CFL?

HID pull through the filter (locate at top to extract hot air), through your hood, out of the enclosure to your fan.

For CFLs put it at the top corner like in that pic and vent directly out to the fan.
