Hi everyone, so i am planning on buying a light fixture so i can veg my plants before i put them outdoors this year, but i don't know where to get any good ones.

I was looking an 85 watt cfl and i figured that would be good to veg a few plants with.

Anyone know any good websites to buy a fixture from that would work for an 85 watt cfl? thanks

hey man in my opinion that 85w bulb is a waste of money. here's why. 1. the color temp in 2700k (red) wut you want to veg with is 6500k(blue) 2. you could go buy 2 42w bulbs for the same price same lumens and same watts and cover more area. lol again just my opinion. also i must say the best cfl light fixture out there is one you make yourself. you can never go wrong when comparing $10 home made to $50 online on shit that works just as well if not better peace out

The base type of that lamp is standard medium so it fits all standard sockets. Only when you get higher CFL's does it switch to a mogul socket (which most grow reflectors use). Like grower001 said, build your own reflectors with standard lamp holders (about $1.50 each at Lowes or Home Depot)

I agree with these other guys, do it yourself and go for smaller bulbs to spread out the coverage. I found super cheap bathroom vanity fixtures for $8 a piece that are 2', 3', and 4' that hold 4, 6, and 8 bulbs respectively. I just went to hoome depot and they had 4 packs of 23w bulbs for $.50 a pack. One 4' strip with Y splitters could give you 368w of floro for under $20. Your bubls might cost more but even then u can get them from the dollar store for a buck a piece or Home Depot for $23 for a 16 bulb case. Here's a link to my newest grow if you want to see what I'm talking about. https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/312392-gastankers-1000w-veggie-tent.html

^ His setup is perfect for what you are looking for. Use more of the smaller lamps (23w). That way you cover more space and they can be really close to the plant.
