Ok I am finding duct tape is not holding my mylar to the black plastic. It just gets warm and peels off anyone have a good alternative tape or idea??

Yeah thats why they don't even use duct tape for duct work. Find the aluminum tape at home center - it sticks to anything. It has a shiny metal side and then an adhesive side that is then backed with wax paper. I find it works well.

you need "gorilla tape". it's black duct tape. home depot, napa auto parts,....

it peels off easy at first but once it warms up, or whatever it does, it holds. i have a 3 x 6 x 6 room held together with gorilla tape. over a year old and still holding.

now if i could get the cat to stop sharpening her claws on the plastic i'll be good.

I am liking the velcro idea if it sticks to plastic. My room is framed and built with 6 mil plastic so have 4 8 foot pieces to hold up..hmmm no tacks would work so its metal tape, gorilla tape or velcro now hmmm

i use a simple stapler to staple velcro to black plastic. roll the edgs of plastic to make it a couple layers thick. my whole door to my room is a velcro zipper stapled to plastic.

how do you staple through a wall of plastic? Nothing on the back except plastic wall then air? What bends the staples into place? My zipper had sticker backing you just stick into the wall you want a door open the zipper an slit the plastic between the teeh and instant zipper door

i knew you'd ask that. i found velcro with sticky on the back. it failed after pulling repeatedly. i have the same type room 2 x 4s for frame and plastic. i guess you could tack to corner posts but i'm sure it will sag in the middle.

i don't know.

Check out Tyvek tape. It's white they sell it home depot or lowes and it's a vapor barrier tape--so not only will it stick in heat, it will also hold up to high amounts of HUMIDITY. Why not just run a couple 2X4's horizontally betweeh your studs to give yourself some "nailers" for your mylar. I've found that velcro comes undone after repeated use.
