Need Help Drying This Year

I have a small storage room outside and I have a few questions.

How low or high does the temperature need to be? And for how long should they be hanging?

Do I need a dehumidifier?

Mason Jars or Oven Bags?

Any other advice is appreciated.

So many ways to dry the herb, as many ways as growers are ....lol ...problem with drying outside is the temperature is too flexible midday under the sun or under a tin roof temp can get very high and 12 hours later is very cold, in the old days we rolled our weed up in dry newspapers and stored it in a dark warm dry place, today I hang it out like a tobacco farmer in the same dark warm but well ventilated place

I have dried outdoors in a shed without any modifications and it dried much faster than indoors but it still has a nice smell and flavor. I just hung the plants upside down and you can add fan to circulate air, just don't have it blowing directly on the buds. Hang them until the branches snap when bent and then sweat them in mason jars, burping occasionally. Hope it goes well :-)

here is how i do mine ............so far no one bitches

order a tent a 3x3x6 tent ..........can be a cheapo just needs to be dark and can seal it up
order a quickcrue rack
the tent u need a carbon filter just a 170 with a simple booster fan (your running passive intake)

if u can afford it i found this bad boy
u plug a dehumitier in one side
a humitifier on the other
set it to 50%

the final part is just add in any old 10 inch fan that moves around to the bottom of the tent to blow around and send air currents tho buds

temps ...............u need them below 80 but above 65
light...................advoid all light that u possibly can
humity.................perfect is 50% range that is safe is 40% to 60%
time ...................if u fallow my method 7 days on the rack after that u can trim it down and jar up

when u trm it u will feel really brittle that is ok when it goes in the jars that last of what is left in the stems is drawn into the leaves then released to air so they are not brittle but they are not wet .............once u jar them after that amount of time the weight is basically locked in might lose 0.5 of a gram

once in the jars for the first week open the jars once every 24 to 48 hours for 20 mins let it breath ........seal it up ...........after doing that for a week 10 days u only need to open it up once a week for up to 4 weeks .......this makes around week 5 maybe 7 after u have cut ...from then on it is basically done just given it time to get all the aging like they do to wine

just rem when u store it to keep temps below 80 and as little light as possible hits it

temps above 80 f thc degrades faster
light on thc makes it degrade

I aim for 45-55% H, 65-75 F -- Until the stem snaps; between 2-5 days dependent on harvest size

I tried drying in a outdoor metal shed and noticed the buds would get dry then re-absorb humidity later in the day. I couldn't get any decent results without a humidifier/de-humidifier. Also the temps fluctuated way too much.

mrCRC are you aiming for the 45-55% RH for when it is ready to smoke? i was under the impression that anything under 55% it is no longer curing, but also wonder at what RH% does it need to be to "smoke well?"
GrowingAll from research i've done, i'd say your temps and RH that you dry in can really vary as they will for all growers. it's what the individual grower does with conditions they are drying in that really matters. so as long as you're not too hot and not too cold in your temps and avoid direct light as much as possible--then get them into mason jars when the buds reach a 65% RH +/- and start curing your bud. good luck with your dry/cure! :-)
