NEED HELP!!! first time using cfl method

later this week im going to attempt to use a large closet growbox system and i want to know what kind of cfl bulbs,soil,fertalizer,air filter etc. to use. i plan to use 4-8 large bins (depending on size and number of females). im using the same system as the diy section in the growfaq(but not using 2 bins)

im going to germinate 10 cali kush seens and 10 granddaddy purple seeds in a few days.

Im running a 4 1/2 foot tall 3X3 wooden grow box and I am hoping to grow 2 plants. At this moment im running 4 42 watt cfl's and 2 7 inch fans. I keep the lights about 3-4 inches from the plants and i put them in yesterday as sprouts and already today they have 4 leaves. They are very green, but the only problems with cfl's is that 1 they dont produce a "Ton" of lumes and 2 that the lumes are very quickly weakened by distance. Make sure you can higher and lower your lights and make sure you buy alot of them.

what can i do to increse the lumes, im planning on using 6 or 9 42 watt bulbs. i will have the seedlings very close to the lights anyway

ok let me share whats been working for my self.

1st i am growing a Purpl kush cotton candy clone in a 3 gal pot.

2nd it's in a grow box made out of osb wood and a few 2x4s
(H:36' W:26' W:24') hella cheep material and calk the sh!t outa the corners and all the gaps.

3rd i went to walm@art and bought 2 CFL fixtures for around $16 for both and special grow bulbs for another $10. and for fan you can get a honeywell single turbo fan for around 15 for your ventelation and wind effets to stregnthen the stem of your plant.

4th i am using fox farms soil ocean bleand or what ever it's called and fox farm nutes. Grow big(veg.) Tiger bloom(Flow.) also theres hygrozomine(havent used it yet but the talk sounds good about it.

it may sound kinda pricy on a first grow set up but this is also my first grow and i havent had a problem and my plant is healty as can be(thank GOD) o well but yeah its perfect for up to 2-3 plants i estimate. i mean on my one plant right now it grows about 1- 1.5 inches a week and it's a low on energy.

The best way to increase your lumes would be to cover the whole room in mylar. Its 95 percent reflective and is fairly cheap. If you cant get mylar get white primer. I painted my box with white primer and my box is so reflective that I have a hard time keeping it cool with 2 fans. we can definately get in contact with eachother about any problems, tips on the cfl grow since its my first as well. Good advice... I have a grow box that is 60x48x36, built out of ply-wood and 2x4's. Calked the shit out of it aswell. Bought one fixture for $8.00 at lowes. Using miracle grow and perlite, no nutes yet... Planning on getting some here in the next week or two.

6 to 9 bulbs should be plenty. For 2-4 decent size plants... You can put 20 seedlings under that kind of light now, but it won't be enough when they start to grow larger.

update: i am now buying 30 og kush and granddaddy purple seeds like next week(mite save half for next cycle),so i got time to buy the best supplies. my attic growing area is HUGE so im gonna get hella plastic rubbermaid bins. thanks for the advice so far

forget the cfl's buy a hid light, you'll spend the equivalent on cfl's then find you'll need more. I used the rubbermaid box for a couple of months, my plants outgrew them fast I could barely fit 2 in there with the rubber maids top hanging a foot above the bottom.

fuck those tiny rubber maids, my bins r thicker and almost 3 feet tall. they are stacked top to top and are about 6ft tall all together. i cant use hid cuz of price and cost of energy, plus the chance of fire.

all i need to kno now is what brand and model of bulb,what kind of fans to use,and how i should make a ventalation device

best bet in my opinion use shop lights from any hardware store. and i know for a fact that walmart has specialveg lights they work wonders using 2 in my grow box. cheep on power...

I'm telling you, you'll waste your money on the cfl's. Half way thru your grow you'll realize you need more powerful lights.

your rite... im still gonna do a cfl grow but just to get my production started over the summer. my friend is giving me tips on how to breed the og kush with the gdpurple to make (drumroll plz) gods gift. i only have like $60 to make my growbox so thats why i wanna do the clf thing. but after i make money offa my first haarvest ill build a hid grow room.

Ok 42watter can hadle about 1/4 (so 4 42w cfls to a plant) about 3-7 inch away not too close
there is better cfls 125w 10,000 lumen intentisty
