Can anybody tell me what im doing wrong here? I ordered 1 red diesel seed awhile back and just started to germinate it on the 21st of june, then on the 23rd, the seed had cracked open and i put it in cube for the first time, i usually put the seed strait in soil.

Well it took about 3 days to reach the top of the cube which i thought was a little long, and now my seedling has litterally been the same size for about the past 3 days now, only about an inch tall and crooked. I have been trying to keep it pretty moist at al times. The first few days i had one 32 watt k6500 cfl on it about 1 foot over, and just yesterday i added a 68 watt k2700. Im was hoping it needed more light and by me adding that 68 watter it would spring into action but its not budging =(
Can any1 plz help me? Am i doing something wrong here? Can i carefully take the seedling out of the cube and put it in soil? here are some not so good pics, maybe they will help

that light can go closer, as close where it wont burn. Ide also get more 6500 cfls as they put out blue light that promotes veg growth, 2700 puts out red and is more for flowering. Your ph could be off ass well check that. and dont listen to whoeva said they need food, just water and mist try too keep em warm. Hopefully they will sprout some roots soon

a decent pic would be nice.

I'd say your pH is off and or they need food.
what a douche comment...i said "not so good pics" dumfuck

Im using distilled water so i kno the ph is somewhere around 7.0 and i put in a little "big bloom" fox farm in the water, that brings the ph down a little, and since i added the 68 watt its got loads of light, but when i get home ill put in some more 6500 under there.

Is there anything else i can do? is this normal for the roots to take awhile to spread? ive only grown 1 time before this and it went alot smoother than now, thats why im kinda freaking out now, plus i paid quit a bit for the seed...
would it be more damage if i took the sprout out and put in in some ocean forest?

tbh i dont know what to say,
im on my first grow so my knowledge is very limited,
HOWEVER....
even if i had any sort of inclination as to what the problem was i wouldnt offer any form of advice,
i find your attitude rather appalling, even though your asking for help, your managing to come off imho as an ass.

the fact that it has shown some signs of growth would indicate that your doing something right,
try to keep the plant moist, not wet.
bring the light as close as you possibly can, but try to avoid burning it.
you say your ph is neutral and seem sure of this, so it kinda rules that out.
keep your nutes to a bare minimum as this is a very young plant and would easily be over fertilized
only other ideas i can suggest would be watch temps, move lighting.
i can understand your fretting as i would and have done the same,
hope it works out for you, as im sure it will.

your problem is not the light.

not familiar with your cubes but not unusual to need to ph adjust the grow medium. you absolutely need a ph meter to grow, so spend the 10 bucks and buy a soil meter at home depot. either that's your problem or you haven't been keeping the cubes at the right level of moisture.

ive been keeping the cube just about soaked the whole time. now as im typing this, im thinking thats too moist? i just give it a few squirts every other hour, but i can tell the cube it pretty much soaked all the time, except when i check it in the morning the top of the cube is a little dry.

ok ill go ez on the water. I actually have 2 ph testers lol. I got one from home depot awhile back and i ordered a digital one on ebay. The one from home depot is for checking the ph imn the soil and everytime i used it on my previous grow it didnt seem to do anything so i just kinda stopped messing with it. Then i got the digital one that was like 30-40$ bucks, and i kno absolutely nothing about these, and then i find out i need "calibrating solution" and i just knda gave up on that too. thats why i used nothibng but distilled water for my last grow so i had somewhat of an idea my ph was just under 7.0 lol. This thread is kinda motivating me to go get that solution and try to get that working

that's a good meter so it's worth heading over to the hydro store and picking up some calibration solution, although a new meter should already be calibrated.

So many start-up problems involve moisture, and usually involves rockwool. Desert is right on, keep the cubes moist, not wet. Do not let them sit in a pool of water, the rockwool will wick all the water up. Get a little circulating air on them. Hope all goes well!

thnx guys for all the comments. As of today there is still no growth going on =( but im not gonna give up until that little sprout is 100% dead. i cut way back on the water, hopefully ill see a change soon. Very disapointed in the dam rockwool cube, but i guess its my fault i watered too much. soil seems easier imo...anyway thnx again

I used the grodan 2x2 cubes to start my current grow in. It says on the package to soak them in water at 5.6 pH for an hour before the grow if I remember correctly. But it doesz sound like it just may be too wet. Good luck.

Very true.

I have recently cloned into grodan 3x3 cubes and had to pre soak them at 5.5. I also used some COCO pellets to secure the clones in the cubes.

i keep the nutes going into them at 6 now. as long as you dont drift too higher than this you should be good.

Personally i would have done a little more reading about them.

Now my 2 clones are approximately 10inches tall and 7inches tall and still in the same 3x3 rockwool cube.

Here is a pic.
