I usually see them fly out of the soil when I water but there are a couple just hanging around the top of my plant. They seem to just hover not really fly so they're easy to kill every time I see some I kill them.rough up the top of your dirt, do you see bugs? Or do you see these fuckers flying when you water? I'm guessing flying root aphids, the worst stage of root aphids.
put the recommended dose of Neem in your watering can and give your plant that. wont hurt it and will get rid of those bastardsI usually see them fly out of the soil when I water but there are a couple just hanging around the top of my plant. Forget about that bug. Not harmful. It sure is NOT root aphids!so I've been having this bug flying around for a while. Sometimes I see them stuck to each other butt to butt. What can it be and is it the cause for my leaves looking like this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!View attachment 3520745View attachment 3520747 View attachment 3520748
I'm not using any nutes. Sorry to sound like a Noob what is mg?Forget about that bug. Not harmful. It sure is NOT root aphids!
Clawing from high N. Looks like you could use some Mg.
Natures care organic potting soil and oh okay will cal-mag help then?
That sounds like flying root aphids but Dr Who isn't going to agree so I'd get a 3rd opinion. You can grow and harvest plants with flying root aphids, they just won't be as good and you'll never have good roots, but I've seen them go untreated (guy thought he has fungus gnats) for cycles.I usually see them fly out of the soil when I water but there are a couple just hanging around the top of my plant. Hopefully I get some more opinions thankfully it isn't too bad I wouldn't even consider it an infestation lol but still I would like to get rid of them and get the most out of my plants. That sounds like flying root aphids but Dr Who isn't going to agree so I'd get a 3rd opinion. That's a pretty good sketch though haha the ones I have don't look like that though. They are winged and they have separations in the body like an ant. That sounds like flying root aphids but Dr Who isn't going to agree so I'd get a 3rd opinion. Not great but heres a drawing of a root aphid..
Root aphids are smaller then fungus gnats and look LOTS like them........The bug shot he gave is NOT a root aphid....That sounds like flying root aphids but Dr Who isn't going to agree so I'd get a 3rd opinion. Yes.....If the plant starts looking "light green" - start a nutrient, low strength.Natures care organic potting soil and oh okay will cal-mag help then?
My lowest leaves are actually very very dark green.Yes.....If the plant starts looking "light green" - start a nutrient, low strength.
Cool beans. It will "tell" you if it needs nutrition. My lowest leaves are actually very very dark green.
Agree, this is why it often goes untreated for so long… I know a lot of people a couple years ago that got hit, everyone was complaining about these damn fungus gnats that wouldn't go away… I got em finally and figured out what they were and went nuclear on my veg room.Root aphids are smaller then fungus gnats and look LOTS like them.......
Say, just interested but, what did you guys use to get rid of them......I mean these are tough to get rid off.......We had a problem around 4 years ago and ended up doing a 3 step root drench..........No I don't like imid at all and we didn't try it, although I've been told it works.......Pyth then Botaniguard then Orthene......Worked..Agree, this is why it often goes untreated for so long… I know a lot of people a couple years ago that got hit, everyone was complaining about these damn fungus gnats that wouldn't go away… I got em finally and figured out what they were and went nuclear on my veg room.
There are not too many things that fly around a garden, that said the I reread that the plants 3 weeks old so root aphids wouldn't be sprouting wings yet, unless they were in the soil to begin with..
