Need Help w/ Mars Hydro Led Repair

I have the older Mars Hydro Led, the old style that has fans. I have 3 of them and 2 work great and one only turns on half of the leds. I took it apart and noticed one led that was fried and then a couple more that looked like the glass was melted. The led just crumbled in my hands when I touched it. Only a few were like this so I was wondering if I could just remove the bad LEDs and just solder a jump wire across the solder terminals to bypass these bad ones. I guess I could also order some LED’s too and solder in new ones.

Just get a new light, they're not all that expensive these days and unless you have the experience I wouldn't want repairs in my high heat, high load electrical environment that I'm running 18-24 hours a day without my supervision. Tent fires happen and it's because of stuff like this, it's just not worth the risk in my opinion. Be greatful the light burning out didn't start a fire in your tent and get a new safe light.

I did order a replacement that came today but figured I would try and fix this one too as a backup. Thanks, Joe

I totally get it. I've just seen some horrible fires in tents from electrical problems like cords shorting out or lights burning out. Since most of us have our tents in our main houses I just always recommend being overly cautious. I keep a smoke detector right next to my tent just for that reason. 15 dollar insurance for peace of mind. I had a light that did that too after 4 years. First one led started blinking then went out and then I lost a few more. When I unplugged it after the grow I could see scorch marks around the chips so I tossed it and up graded to a Timber Grow Light COB setup. Dan's lights are bulletproof as far as build quality and I've run them non stop since 2018 without any problems. I just wish I could get another 2 COB'S to give me better coverage for my tent.

Been there done that with some old hydro panels - typical issues. Sometimes full strings go bye bye. Usually with their early panels the IR monos would go dark / crumble fail.

I “ gutted “ a few just to mod them with QB replacement boards - their TIM ( thermal paste ) is horrible. Plus the micro finned heat sinks.

The chances of that happening with a new Mars Hydro light are pretty slim,get a new light and end your worries...

Yea I already got a new light. Their new ones are a lot lighter in weight too. I haven’t turned them on yet so not sure how much heat they put off since they don’t have fans anymore. My setup is inside an insulated steel building with concrete floors so I’m not super worried about a fire but don’t want one either way. I’ll just buy a new replacement. Thanks for the advise fellas

Bar or board???

Yea I already got a new light. Their new ones are a lot lighter in weight too. I haven’t turned them on yet so not sure how much heat they put off since they don’t have fans anymore.
