Need input on how many plants to do do for next harvest!!

I am just now finishing up my first true grow. I constructed an awesome box that has a 250w HPS with cool tube. Carbon filter. 190 cfm exhaust. The box is perfect. My first grow is now finishing it up, it consists of 1 white widow and 1 mango kush. I believe I am going to yield around 1 oz by the looks of the nugs. I was hit by a few bug problems and a few lighting issues due to the fact I did not have the HPS the entire time but had 5 CFLS for all of vegg. I want to yield as much as possible from my box. The box is 2 feet x 4 feet x 5 feet. It can fit 4 large ish plants in 3 gallon pots no problem. I want to however find a system where I can have many small plants. Can someone recommend a method they use. I used scrog but because of stunted growth and some other problems my screen never filled up all the way. I am thinking about using 2 gallon pots and doing about 8 or 9. Would this yield more than 2 3 gallon plants??!?
