So i have a buddy who came by last night and we smoked a few nugs and got to Bsing. He told me about his new setup hes got going on, i went out to his place about 4 weeks ago, he had 10 plants in veg all pretty good size, probably 3-4 feet tall, so i imagine there now 5 feet tall (very healthy) So now comes the the time to flower... Heres what he is working with

3 LED UFOs which are maybe equivilent to a 600, but not really thats just what the add claims in the magazines and a 6 Armed LED octupus for supplemental side lighting, At most thats equivilent to 2000 watts if were being generous.

Heres where it gets funny, He plans to yield a Pound a plant because hes using a high yield aeorponic system with the whole fox farms line of nutes and the LEDs are equivilent to a 600 each... I think his friend has an account on here so i hope he sees this thread.

We just got in an argument and i told him i have been doing this for a while, your getting your expectations wayyyyyyyy to high. and i asked if he had ever done a complete cycle and he said his buddy has so he knows what hes doing...So basically im asking your guys input whats your guess for his yield i will start off with a guess of.

2.5 pounds and yes im being generous


I just want to show him this whole thread when he comes back over to put him back into reality

if all ten are female, he might get your 2.5 lbs. might be lower. if half of those ten are male, well....

He might get a pound a plant in wet wait, but once he dry's and cures there is no way he will get those yields.

Yeah, Leds are renowned for their wispy airy buds, and indoors to yeild 1lb+ per plant is pretty ambitious for a first time grower even with 1000watter hids. Obviously there are alot of factors at play here, technique, strain, environment etc. so you cant really say what hes gonna get out of it, but just a guess based on what i know about leds, oooooh maybe 1 oz per plant.

yah i mean everyone has to agree with me here that its IMPOSSIBLE to get 10 pounds off 3 LEDs and a led octupus for supplemental lighting

LED's are no good. I don't have any first hand expierence but there was a VERY well conducted video on youtube with a side by side. I think it was two NYCD's but I'm probably wrong. Anyway, there was a side by side time lapse video (each was in a seperate light proof area but you could look at both at the same time) of the two, each using the same light from germination, one had a 400w HPS while the other had some LED P.O.S. they looked pretty competitive until flowering, then the HPS did what it does best, produce. By the end of flowering the LED plant was leaning up against the side of it's little area. The HPS yielded quadruple the LED.

yah i have heard the same but whos to say that he was using the LED ufo which is supposedly compared to a 600 watt light

I've seen a guy do some amazing things with bending and topping. Your buddy on the other hand, is gona need some divine intervention to meet his goal.

I've seen a grow use 2 300watt panels, and two 90 watt ufos for flowering. It yielded slightly under a pound all together, with 6 females. Not everything went perfect however...
