I am doing a few BONSAI mums and need to transplant. The thing is the cubes my current plants are in are 6 inches and have some algae on them ,so what I would like to do is cut the cubes, roots as well down to smaller cubes so I can put in smaller pots. The plants are about 5 to 6 inches tall frow clone. They have strong root systems. Will I fuck my plants if I cut about 2 to 2 1/2 inches from my cubes ????? I know it will slow growth for a second but thats fine.

Well they prob wont like it, any root damage isn't helping anything. But go for it I guess.

This is a pot growing forum so keep that in mind, as I don't grow mums.
I always try to never damage my roots, but then again i would never goto a smaller container either.

My bad dude LOL
but why smaller¿
The magic with the Bonsai Mum grasshopper lol is u can maintain "multiple" strains in a confined area. These small mother plants can give you 10 to 30 cuts every 14 days, so plenty of clones not so much plant. See the beauty bro.

im very new to this and this is just my opion but i feel any time you have a really successful plant you should clone it to keep the strand goin just lilke people every seed, plant, cutting, and strand is different some a little some a lot, but the point is to keep the life cycle going as much as possible and save you some money;} p.s. done the research, so just cause i'm new to the sight doesn't mean i have no knolledge and my thoughts should be taken in like a fat rip. No hating just constructive critisism.

Thank u algeezy really ur input as a grower is appreciated and I know ur being helpful;-)

Now will someone please answer my question. I know of propagation, growing from seed, vegging, flowering, etc.,etc. I just need some SEASONED growers to inform me if I can successfully cut down my rockwool cubes taking some of the root and NOT harm my plants long term. That is my question please stick to it.

For all including myself WE should look into depth of a persons profile and see there grow knowledge before ass-u-me...ing they are on a wrong path. I am VERY comfortable with my knowledge of growing and have a phenomenal grow at the moment. I am partaking in a advanced veging mother to free room up in my closet. I need to cut the rock wool and roots to put into the mothers pots wich are by far smaller than what u would normally use. CAN I CUT THE ROCKWOOL AND ROOTS A LITTLE, 2 1/2 inches ??????

Thank u all really. Im not trying to be rude I just need this one piece of info to move on. Algae and such is becoming a issue on my exposed rockwool. kiss-ass
