Need to know more about runoff

So im watering my plants in coco perlite mix , they are 5 gallon fabric pots. In order for me to get runoff to come out of the bottom I probably need to dump about 1 gallon of water with the nutrition in there per plant. Does this seem about right or is that way to much to be watering? How much runoff should come out of the plant

That sounds about right I’m in 5 gal fabrics with coco perlite mix and it’s about 3ish litres for me until about 20% run off really depends on how much I’ve let them dry up a little between watering as well, if the top of the coco is dry and the pots are super light it’s generally 3 litres (just under a gallon) and if they are still a little wet it’s usually between 1.5-2L, you don’t want your coco to dry out completely between watering want it always damp for many reasons do some research but you might just want to start watering a little more often you’ll find it takes a little less for run off. Also I find that it takes a little bit of time for the water to make it all the way down so I usually give them 2 litres each wait 10 minutes check for run off and the ones that need more get a top up

Also it’s pretty hard to over water your coco it will only hold onto so much water before it rejects the rest

That sounds right. As @Novicegardner said he uses around 3 liters which is just shy of a gallon. I don't measure my input water I simply water until I see some start trickling from the pot and move on. Flushing with pure water once every couple weeks really heavy to prevent salt buildup and or toxicities in the rootzone. I'm in hard plastic 15 gallon pots of coco/perlite though, takes me around 2.5-3 gallons to get runoff per/day.

Yeah it's truly beautiful if your someone that has ever killed a plant in soil from over-watering. /me

Soil is way more technical to water. Coco just bomb it until there is some runoff then wait for it to be moist but not dry (dryback) and bomb it again.

How big are your plants? To get the best from a Coco grow you want to water frequently in small amounts hitting run off every time. Set up an auto water system and hit them 6-12 times a day depending on the stage of growth.

6 feet tall 4 foot wide. I am going all drip feed in October. For now, going to rock what I have. Auto filling RO barrels with pumps & water wands for veg and bloom.

Looking at this pic I shot today, I really need to set a third layer of netting for next run. These are in early week 4, by the end of the month they'll be for sure flopping over without a third net. D:

Nice looking setup bro! You have some serious growth happening in that room.

They def look a bit underwatered going by the way that the leaves are hanging down. Try and water at least 3 times a day if you can.

And you really want a lot less around the bottom of those plants. It's probably too late in week 4 to go in with the loppers but on the next round lollipop everything under the top net in week 2. The stuff underneath won't get much light and won't be great quality and will take longer to finish, when you have lowers that still need another 2 weeks it stops the rest of the plant from maturing at an even rate. And if you ditch all the stuff down low all the plants energy goes to your tops and they end up double the size.

Thank you for the kudos, I did lollipop these plants to the tips and also pruned off a lot of lower growth already this run. Your definitely correct on everything you said, I'm aware of it. The lower stuff is going in the bag I do all machine trim now so it is what it is. Their will be a gradient of ripeness haha.
