Hey i need help with what kind of light i should use when they are in a veg state and for clones. I hear that a MH light is the way to go in this situation if that is the truth what wattage should i get for a little closet grow where the ceiling is 2ft? Need to get a good light on them asap and i plan to buy a 400 watt HPS light for flowering in a bigger area with a ScrOG grow.

The room is only 2' high? Your not going to be able to get plants and HID lights in that kind of space together. MH and HPS are your optimum lights.

i understand that i cant use that for anything more then a little cloning area and for germinating but im trying to figure out what wattage MH light i need

depends on how much area have to grow with... Get too big of a light and your area will get too hot, too little light and your slowing your process and/or decreasing your yeilds.

well basically i have a bigger dresser and i used the bottom area as a little veg, seedling, cloning area and then using the top for a ScrOG grow with a 400 watt HPS. but i think i found a website that actually is perfect it tells you what the light will work for in dimensions rather then just wattage......perfect. 2' x 2' area

Just go with the 2ft floro tubes. there perfect for seedling-veg-and clones. Seems perfect for your needs.

I agree with Ivory. Your going to have problems with any HPS and/or MH in that small of a space. Maybe just maybe you might be able to squeeze a 175w HPS/MH in there... I don't know how much heat the 175w'ers give off.

i stopped by a local hydro store in town here and i saw a digital ballast that was something like $200 but it could support an HPS or a MH lamp has anyone heard anything on these and if so are they worth the money i know you have to pay for the lamp and the hood but JW

too, big, expensive. and hot for such a small space. fluoro tubes. the temp of those lights would be my concern in such a small space. just grow on the roof. no ceiling up there.

Digital ballasts run like any other ballast in my opinion, Buddy of mine had one a while back. Truth is any other name brand Ballast will work just as good as a digital one. But it all comes down to personal preference. And how much money you have to waste. For a flower room just get a 400 watt hps system. The best place to get them is HighTechGardenSupply.com. I got my 400 watter from them and it works great.

Yeah try to go HID MH if you can. But if not thats the 2nd best option. Go to grow journals and look up Cheetah2007 Grow. He's using t-5's. They seem to work great for him.

A MH Light is the very best light you can use for veg. But i think it would be over kill in clones? Idunno about clones. But for veg They just cant be beat. I'll let someone who has more experience With MH lights tlk about the clone part.

With the exception that with a Digital ballast you can use both HPS and MH globes.
