Neem oil bad taste

Hi all,

I had spider mites and I was told to spray neem oil all over the plants up to 3 weeks before harvest time.
So I sprayed them 2-3 times, and now at list one of the plants has bad taste when vaping it... I am non smoker so I can't tell how the smoking of it taste yet, I will have to ask a friend.

I had my hard lesson...
In my opinion the buds stopped developing after spraying them directly with neem.
The guy from the hydro store told me its Ok to spray the flowers.., and all his advice was very good, up to this advice...

The material is good and give very good high, but at list one of the plants is giving really bad taste in the toungh, that lasts for a long time after vaping. At list from 2 trys, maybe its also connected to something I ate.

Anything I can do beside do rick Simpson oil from all the buds?
Anyway to improve the taste or any idea how to use them better?

There where 3 plants, dried for 6 days, cured for 14 days +- now.

Nothing you can do. Stop spraying your plants. Growstore advise is never good advice, its a con for your $$.

I've smoked mite webs with a smile on my face. Pick out/scrape off the obvious web with your thumb nail and you'll never notice. I only vape, and only care about flavor and could not tell I had mites from the taste. One customer called, a fellow grower. Told him tough tits either bring it back or put that thumbnail to work. He kept the bud. It tasted amazing, like always. Put some neem bud in front of me on the other hand and I'll punch a baby in the face and stomp a puppy with golf shoes.

I'd literally rather smoke mold and bugs than anything you could think to spray during flower.

I wonder if using a water cure would help get the residue off, or maybe a light bath in h202 or something, then a rise in water, make sure if there are fat buds to break them down and be on serious watch for mold because of the wet bud re drying.

me personally would try the h202 then water wash and very carefully re dry method to get the oil off

I’m curious if a teeny bit of safe soap on the first wash would help separate the oil off.

if it were me I’d try a few of these methods on just a small buds and see which helps salvage your product the best. I’m sure there’s other info out there

Lucky me, its mostly on one plant, the one that was the first to harvest. the other two I harvest one week later, so maybe the wash helped.

Is it possible also that its also not cured enough after 10 days? ( 6 dry, then 10 more for cure, and still)

Give a shit.... How abouts you wait for taste and flavour as well before you jar as any decent knowledgable grower does.

6 days is too early and ive told you why it taste shit if you take a second to stop lecturing those who know how to grow you might just learn something!

Jarring the plants after six days isn't ideal but the neem is the culprit here...not your dry/cure process.
The neem oil probably clogged the stomata and slowed down growth/bulk. I know some growers swear by it but I used cold press neem one time many years ago and I'll never ever use it again. To this day, I can tell if someone used that shit on their plants.

I dont think you're going to be able to remove the smell even with a solvent extraction...which could possibly concentrate that neem as well.
Have you thought about running them through bubble bags/ice wax? Just spit balling because I really hate to see someone lose their harvest.

Some tips for next time -
Implement a good IPM program and stick to it.
Green Cleaner works well but I wouldn't spray past wk 2 in flower.
Or you could hit your vegging plants with a miticide but always do your research before using anything systemic.
I dont expect you'll let this happen again, but should life get in the way and you experience an outbreak/infestation you can blast the buds with pressurized air.
Good luck with whatever method you decide to persue.

Why the shitty talk?

Step 4: Continue drying until outsides of buds feel dry to the touch, and smaller stems snap instead of bend, usually 3-7 days. Buds will “snap” off without leaving a stringy trail.

Thanks for your answer.
The problem is not the taste, its giving me strange feeling in the tongue.. like after drinking too hot tea or something. the feeling stays for a while, after 2-3 mighty vape puffs.

Bubble hash is a good option, but the sever taste is only 25 gr. Its also the one that I harvest and cured from all planets. So not sure how much I will get from 25gr, if it worth buying the bags...

Sorry but these forums are too heavily trolled, you must see through for the truth and hence only the penient may pass.

To know when bud is dry forget all that broscience written and sample the god damn thing - if it smokes well its dry and nothing to do with look feel or bending stems etc. Some will see the logic and others simply troll.

Now bud aint done when dry as enzymatic process demands you hang longer till you get the taste and flavour and not jar till after these TWO factors are there.

I can teach you exactly how to dry and produce finished bud without that early jarring rubbish or you can simply follow bad advice and trolls.

6 days is too early for any bud to be ready for jarring and i give you gold its just upto you which side of this forum you want to land on.

Retry with a small amount next grow - Confusion cleared....

I didn't realize it was less than a zip. For that small amount it wouldn't be worth running through the bags.
The sensitivity to neem you're describing is actually quite common. Ingest enough, and it can induce nausea and vomiting.


And the poster above is the resident troll. He's barely mastered vegging a single plant. Don't feed him. Just do what everyone else does and put him on ignore.

Thanks. I may turn it to Rick Simpson oil.
I think its the best solution, I like oil from time to time and its good as an ointment.

I learned my lesson.

Can we use air to clean the tent and the plants instead of using chemicals? i did see a spider mite in my tent and cobwebs so went to the Hydro store got the chemical that they have tiny bottle for $40.00 spray the whole tent and all plants. Now after cutting down and curing weed fires up goes down smooth then Burnt dirt Chemical Taste. I have a small air compressor so i can blast my plants instead of using chemicals??? Thank god. will try this next.

doubt it. Flowers absorb it. There’s no fixing that.
