New Basement Grow Room - Advice Needed Please

Hello all, I am just about to start a new grow room situated in a basement flat, I will be growing within a 2m by 2m by 2m pro gro tent and have kinda pencilled in all the stuff I need to get and then stumbled on this great forum and thought I would ask you pro's for a little heads up. I grew very successfully around 12 years ago for almost 2 years and loved it! I see many new toys and such on the market now and am feeling very excited.

So first things first, my main concern is the quality of and amount of air my gro room will need, so any suggestions on fan size and light type and size would be great. Also do you think I will need to use a dehumidifier. I am planning on using organic soil using 2 600 son t agro lights with digital ballasts, is this too much for the size of gro tent, would I be better off using 2 x 400 watt lights instead?

Two 600 watts are perfect, just as long as you have the right ventilation. Do you have an air cooled hood? One high powered 6 inch inline fan will do the job, look on ebay you can get them for like 100 bucks about. Figure out what the average humidity in the room is, with the lights, and that answers your question about the dehumidifier. I am also doing a basement grow and am in the process of building the room. Im not doing a tent, i feel as though it needs much more ventilation.

I wasn't planning on getting air cooled hoods for my lights mainly because its gonna get pretty cold here for the next 4 -5 months so my plan was to get a good carbon filter and use the expelled air as a form of air con heating for the rest of the room as i will be living in it! My whole basement area is kinda open plan hence the need for a tent. Like you say I best get some readings first and then see what they go up to once everything is running. Out of interest how many plants would you suggest on using in a 2 by 2 by 2 meter gro tent?

Well the amount of air needed to cool the room is going to far surpass the fresh air needed to keep the garden happy.

So, its going to come down to temp control.. which is going to be a result of temp coming into the tent vrs heat generated by the lamps. If it were me, I would get at least two oscillating fans in the room.. one to blow on the garden, the other to blow on the fans. For two 600w, a small room, and a nonair cooled hood I would probably pickup a nice squirrel cage pulling through your filter. maybe a 400+ CFM squirrel cage.
