OK guys I just planted my auto flowers in 3g pots I have a few questions tho.
A Lil info about my grow.
Soil mix of ocean forest/happy frog/perlite/ewc/bat guano/kelp meal in 3g smart pots
Using CFLs for now trying to get an hps for more power just on a budget right now
Plants are in beginning of 2nd week
Starting in a few day I feed with organic tea ewc, kelp meal, bat guano, molasses
Strains
Northern lights x big bud from expert seeds (seedsman)
White widow freebie from seedsman
Questions I have
How long from seed do they show sex?
How long do you feed veg nutes?
What would u recommend to keep it short? I know u can't top but what about LST
How much light do they really need BC I'm out of money lol.
Do autos like it hotter or colder or the same a reg plants?
Any other suggestions?

Don't feed yet. Water only and let them dry. They are a bit over watered.

Autos like the same temps but I have noticed they handle cooler temps better.

Looks good. Just slow down on the water and let them do their thing.

They only look over watered BC I literally just watered seconds before the pic. I just transplanted them and I had let them dry out for days while in a solo cup but I don't plan on watering for about a week

An auto won't show sex, they're female.
Personally I wouldn't train because they're already on a short life span, although there's guys on here that have great results via training autos.

Look into a HPS or a LED.
Pick up a HPS for around 50-70 quid on eBay.
CFL is ok, but its a kids light.

I have a 150w hps and 4 43w cfl but their on my other plant which is in 12/12 I started these BC I thought my other was a really bad Hermie and its actually pulled through very nicely so I'm keeping it I basically have 6 open spots for CFLs to power this until my other finishes flowering. But I have been putting it in the sun during the day to give it extra light is that ok never heard of anyone using CFLs and sunlight what do you think

They will show sex before full flower. Most are fem but there are reg auto seeds if you know where to look.

Low stress training wont hurt them a bit. It will increase yields. Some can even be topped with great results.

No. They have that look of constant over water. You shouldn't water when you transplant. Transplant into moist soil. The roots grow out in search of water. Watering them when you transplant actually slows them down .

That is my next point. Plant autos to final pot. The tap root determines flower on ruderalis. It is because of long summer days up north and permafrost. The taproot hits the permafrost and triggers flower.

Cfl, t5, led, it doesn't matter. Take care of the plant and everything else follows. I planted these straight to 15 inch wide pots. Using 4ft 8 bulb t5.

Thank you. All I used is the cheap durolux t5 with a mix of agromax bulbs including a 10,000k+uva bulb.

It is an oak wardrobe I gutted. It is a 2x4x6 cab, it was $80. I got the light for $120, the fan and filter for $100.

You can do what I did for around $300. I also bought a 16 pound box of carbon for $80 and is enough to refill my filter 4-5 times. They last about a year. I then bake the carbon to re activate it.

I remove the synthetic mesh and replace it with metal screen so I can bake the in the oven to refresh them.

I also grow photo plants. Scrog.

This is about half of that run. I gave the rest to someone in need.

Here is my light. You can choose any mix of 3000k and 6500k. they make many different lights from 2ft and 4ft.
https://www.amazon.com/T5-Grow-Light-Fluorescent-Hydroponic/dp/B00INGMTPW

This is a fan and filter similar to mine.

You can get a good setup for a couple hundred bucks.

I have a 6 and 8 bulb model of light and both have been running non stop for two years. The fan has to.

Here's my full set up as of right now I need more light for the small ones tho but I did with spending very lil money and using stuff from around my house. Just did this to try my hand at growing before investing crazy amount of money to see if its worth it and ilove it so soon I'll be adding a 5x5 tent with a 600 hps very soon.

I don't know? I have put them in the sun and under my t5 at night. The sun is doing more than a couple cfl.

If nothing else got to wlamart and they have boxes of 23 actual watt cfl for les than 10 bucks. They have a19 led bulbs cheap to.

You want at least 100 actual watts minimum and 150 preferable for the first plant and 50-75 for each additional plant.

You can get away with a couple more weeks with a couple bulbs depending how much direct sun they are getting.

The more light the better.

OK thanks for advise man
I will also say that I grow organic. I'm not saying you have to go that way. I just prefer organic bud. I have a worm bin and compost pile. I got all the chicken and cow manure I would ever want.

If you need synthetics I am a fan of dynagrow. For $20 or less you get a sample pack from them. It comes with a quart of foliage pro 9-3-6, a quart of protekt (silica), a pint of bloom, pint of mag pro and pint of rooting solution. The foliage pro is geared towards cannabis they just didn't want it labeled as such.
I got the kind samples for 12 bucks shipped.

I got this pack free from rxgreensolutions. They advertise here. I had to email a couple people in their company before I got them free.

The dynagro sample kit will last you a long time if growing a couple plants at a time.

I spent a couple days emailing nutrient companies and you would be surprised at the free or cheap stuff you can get. All that is needed is a little time and effort.
