Hey guys

So this is my first time grow after reading and researching I finally took the plunge. I'm on day 3 from germinating I am under 2ft 4bulb t5 HO. I am growing northern lights. And I'm using rockwool. One of my babies was bent over really bad to the point where it was touching the plug. I propped it up against some bobby pins I have a couple of questions here

1.) how low is the light suppose to be from plant
2.) what temp as I suppose to be at?
3.) how often should I water
4.) I am doing 18/6 light schedule is this ok?

Thanks in advance guys

put light about 3.5 feet away from plant!!! but again...it depends wat light u using ...if it gets hot ..hold it much away from the plant as it may hurt ur MJ ...anyways ..experiment your plant ..understand them ..your own experience will give you the best knowledge...its your first grow so..experience it yourself...and yes 18/6 is fine..or u can also do 20/4 ..

Hey snkt

Thanks for the reply. The light is a t5 HO 4 bulb. So it emits very little heat. To me the stem looks stretched. Are they stretched or is that normal? I raised it a bit to see it it makes a difference tonight. Thanks again

your seedling is fine...yes it is stretched a bit...but thats cool..it happens sometime..not a big issue..it will grow normal as other plants...

Since your a new grower:
Resist the urge to overwater them, they dont need much right now
You want your light as close as you can get without burning them to avoid too much stretch.
They dont need nutrients for a few weeks
Have fun at it !!!

Put that light within inches of the plants...it gives off next to no heat and being that close will prevent the stretching...g/l

I would switch to soil personally. Rockwool is better suited for hydro situations in my opinion, such as flood and drain. You can put that light way down over your plants, as it is perfect for seedlings and young plants, not so much for larger plants. You temps are high, so you need to lower them to around 80 for best results. Rockwool holds a lot of water for a long time, so you need to be careful about overwatering. 18/4 is fine for your light schedule, and I would even consider going 24 hours on. If you stay with Rockwool, I would add some more to cover your plugs. Good luck.

is your fan pointed at them? I keep my fan slightly blowing on new sprouts to strength up that stem. I also like to use a CFL for the first week because you can get it within a couple inches without burning the girls to prevent stretch.
