G'day Guys, just got my "Ezi Tent" Today.

Dimensions: L x W x H
90cm x 50cm x 160cm

Venting:
1x Intake
1x Exhaust
2x Vents

Now, what i need help with is the lighting.
What would be the best for this space?
I was thinking 600w but now iv set it up I'm starting to think 400w? with Cool Tube as well?

I'm not sure that's why i am asking you guys here.

thanks. kiss-ass

Definitely go with a 600w in a cooltube. 400w is a waste of money.

400w puts out about 50 000 lumens. For only 200w more a 600w light puts out 98 000 lumens.

I dunno about you, but twice the light and only 1/3 more power, definitely seems like the better option to me. 600w are the most efficient lights. People just use 1000w to pack in more lumens in less space.

I hope your tent isnt lined with PVC, that would mean death to plants. My homebox is lined with a white coating as well, but its not PVC.

I would contact the manufacturer or check any available sources to find out if it is in fact coated with Polyethylene(PE) which as far as I know is currently the only safe thing to use for the white plastic non-mylar tents.

I run a Homebox XXL and its lined with white plastic (PE) and I run 2 1000w HPS lights in my tent with absolutely no problems.

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or even Polyurethane (PU) can have toxic off gassing problems with HID lighting. Basically the light dries the PVC/PU and the toxic fumes kill your plants. Eventually the PVC/PU lined tents get dry and brittle on the inside and the material thats coating the tent cracks and flakes off.

White grow tents

  • 100% resistant against the leaking of air and light
  • Quick and easy to assemble / dismantle
  • Water resistant
  • Simple to wash
  • Made from PE, not PVC - no gassing
yup there made from PE

thanx for making that point tho. :)
i will look into the 600w and keep u guys updated :P

That's a pretty small space. I'd just use a 400w. I don't mean to offend anyone that would recommend "more is better", but in this case in such a small space I don't think you'd need the 600w. I also would recommend 600w, but only if you have like a 4x4 area. In all honesty you could grow just fine w/ a 250w. This is really a matter of electricity consumption, and heat tho. If you can manage w/ both of those go ahead for the 600w :)

can you use an inline fan as your main fan, or do i have to buy a centrifuge fan?

this is the inline fan im thinking of

Duct Size: 150mm
Watt: 39
Picture: Inline-Fan.JPG

would it work under this condition
Carbon Filter > Cooltube > Exhaust
Picture:exhaust.JPG

or would i have to use a centrifugal fan
Picture: cent-fan.JPG

Thanks.

For that diagram with the filter and cooltube I would recomend using a centrifugal fan. It has a LOT more pushing/pulling power and you will be much happier with it in the long run.

Inline fans move air, but centrifugal fans can force that air through all the ducting and not lose massive amounts of CFM from the ducting. The inline fans (6" 250cfm average) are Booster Fans, they are rated for moving air, I just use them to assist my centrifugal fans if theres a big run of ducting. I use a 6" inline in between my 2 1000w HPS air cooled hoods to assist my 8" centrifugal thats pulling on the 2 lights a carbon filter and about 30 feet of 6" ducting.

I use fan controllers too, running over sized centrifugals at lower speeds is much quieter and more efficient then running smaller centrifugals full speed. You can really adjust it to your needs to manage temps too.

Buying gear is the hardest part.

I spent Years researching for what I want, changing my mind every month or 2 as I learned about new better products. At one point I was going to make a 5x10 tent out of PVC pipe and poly...Damn am I ever happy I just bought the homebox instead, so much easier to transport.

I like that new diagram. That should work amazingly together. How many CFM is the fan? A fan controller might be a good option, they are cheap and give you Way more control over your fans, and they usually have a 15amp fuse and on/off switch which is nice. (check out Control Wizard)

Just make sure the filter and cooltube will fit in the tent with the ducting. It might be a tight fit. The Filter and Cooltube will be 30cm of your 50cm width, it could be a bit tight.

You should look into 10cm carbon filters and use a 10cm-15cm reducer so you can use it with the 150mm ducting. It might save a bit of much needed space.

u wer sayin that some types of plastic arent suitable,

http://www.hydrolab-hydroponics.co.uk/Grow-Tents.html

it says its a polyester / plastic lined grow tent. would that be ok or should i email 2 get exactly what kind it is.

im onli gonna b using a 250w cfl.

You should email and find out. If they just say "plastic" thats a little sketchy.

If its Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or even Polyurethane (PU) Then its BAD and you shouldnt waste money on it.

If buying the white plastic coated tents make sure its Polyethylene(PE).
