New grower, how to grow outside and not have any smell in nyc

i live in nyc and im moving and i want to use my roof to try and grow just 1 plant, it will be out doors so no equipment, but my parents live 2 floors down so i was wondering how i could not have it smell at all. also if there is stuff i need to buy where i can get it and how much it costs.

well if its outside and its on ur roof. and its just one plant.. i think smell is one of the least of your worries... just idk if the roof is a good idea buddy..
any low flying cops in helicopters see that - ur busted. - any neighbors in surrounding buildings see it - ur busted..
if your not worried about either.. then u probly shudnt have to worry about the smell.. ++ its nyc.. lol it smells bad anyways. ahha
just get some soil at a local organic store

yeah lets not forget bout those 90 deg nys summer days that make heat index 110 on a black rooftop....
