New Hydro problems

I picked up a J1 teen a week ago hoping to have it as a mother plant. It came in soil but I transplanted it into clay balls with a drip system. I washed all the soil from the roots and was very careful but a few of the very small hair like roots did brake off.

Ph is at 5.8
PPM is at 560 (that's total PPM)
I was planning to increase the PPM next week
Temp is in the mid 60's (maybe to low?)
250w HPS on 24/0
I did a light foliar feed on the third day. (I did NOT ph the water as per the directions on the wetting agent)

So here's some pictures. Is this normal for a transplant? It's the last picture that really concerns me but what do I know? I'm a noob.

Did u ph the chronic pellets?. Looks like a Def or burn either way flush it for 24 hours water till u see growth feed at 400 for a week then bump it up like usual she will be fine

I didn't ph the hydroton but I tested the water today and it's still at 5.8 ph so I'd think that it would have changed the water ph had it been to far off.

Anyway, I'll play with the nutes tomorrow. We'll see what that does.

OK. I changed the nutes today. I used GH part A @ about 780 PPM (I'll bump it up to about 950 PPM next week) The Ph is at 5.8.

I really hope I didn't kill her. I spent a lot on this teen. I really want to use her as a mother.

You do not need to PH the pellets. I been using them for years and they are PH neutral, looks like the foliar feed may have burned them a bit. But to answer your question I would say yes, this is normal as it is transplant shock.

I think you did everything right and your lady should recover soon. Just don't be in a rush to over feed her. Let her get used to the totally new growing enviro. I would not go over 500ppm till she is better

I do think your temps are a bit on the cool side. My garden varies from 64 with lights off to 74 with lights on. When I transplanted my pepper plants years ago from soil to my hydro I rinsed the roots in luke warm water.

Was your water cold when you rinsed the dirt off the roots? If so this may be the root cause (no pun intended!)

Actually, yes. The water was surprisingly cold. It warmed up a bit towards the end but it took awhile to get there.

She looked even worse this morning. She really didn't look like she was going well.

Also, I just increased my nutes today. I'm around 780 PPM now.

Hmmmm, IMO i would keep the nutes PPM down some for now. She is in the recovery room take it easy on her.

So to bring the nutes down, would I just add water?

Looks like a major calcium deficiency and significant magnesium deficiency. Are you using ro and no calmag?.

Also check ph meter calibration just in case its off.

There is trace Cal and Mag in the nutes. Should I add more?

I calibrated the ph meter last week. I'll test it again.
