An ordinance for medical marijuana shops went into effect Thursday in Tulare County.
Sheriff's deputies will be visiting the cooperatives throughout the day to see if they're complying with the new rules.
The ordinance limits the number of plants to 99 per co-op. They must also get business licenses renewed annually and smoking medical marijuana within the co-op is not permitted.
