New pot grower help!!!

I'm making a grow box with a guitar am what lighting should I use for flowering and vegg? How many watts and I wanna use cfl.
What nutrients do I need to to feed the plants ? How often? How do you know if its a girl? What do you do with the leaves when u trim?
