New seedlings help!

image.jpgI have two new seedlings one in rockwool and one in a jiffy plug both in sunshine mix #4 plants were under a few clfs I just switched to a 400 watt MH today but any ways my plants haven't really got bigger in a few days and one of them it's been awhile it is really small how do they look in the pictures

They dont really look like they are in shock at all, i dont know how old they are but by the looks of them they are doing just fine.

They look like there a week old. They grow there roots system for a while. When that gets big enough it will start growing.

Id put them back under the CFLs for another week or 2 and make sure you give little to no nutrients for at least another week.

Okay thanks alot I also gave them mother plant 2 part nute today with a ph of 6.5 and ppm of 350 the ppm was so high because I used baking soda to raise my ph

The seed itself has nutrients in it to sustain the life of the seedling.

Most plant seeds (except orchids) are relatively large and contain a large store of nutrition to sustain the young plant before leaves and roots develop enough to continue sustaining the growing plant. With this type of seed, you just pop the seed in soil, water, and watch the seedling grow. Most garden plant seeds are of this type. Examples are beans, peas, corn, tomatoes and lettuce, all the seeds you see at your local nursery or produce store. Orchid seed, in comparison, is tiny, like dust. It contains virtually no nutrition to grow the new plant, so orchid seed relies on a mycorrhizal fungus to provide the nutrition required to grow. Until the young orchid grows leaves and roots large enough to support the orchid, the fungus must provide all the nutrition for the growing plant. Without this fungus, there is no possibility of the seed developing.

ok, they look fine man, like someone above said they are working on root system right now and will grow vertically as soon as they have a root to stand on.

your using pro mix so a light light light feeding isnt going to hurt, i would go no more than 1/10 recomended dosage, so if it calls for 15ml per lite/gal then go 1.5 ml, as the plant grows so wont your feedings.

your MH light is fine, its a redicules concept that too much ligh is going to damage your plants. maybe the heat from the light but the light itself...cmon thats just fucking retarded. do seedlings need CFL's outdoors? JW

you shouldnt have to worry too much about PH as pro mix has lime in it already to keep it at a neutral PH, pro mix is a soiless growing medium so in essence its kinda like growing hydroponically. if you want my advice if your looking for a soil grow i would pick up a bag of roots organic or fox farm happy frog and mix 50/50 with the pro mix. then your PH shouldnt be a issue. As long as your tap water isnt some whacked out PH i wouldnt even bother adjusting it as the soil and pro mix will buffer it to 7 anyways because of the lime in the pro mix.

I'm not looking for a soil grow I'm growing in the sunshine and also dwc buckets my ph out of the tap is like 8.0 but I just down it to about 6.5 7 then feed what's a good way to test my soil ph with out a soil meter?
