I use recipe 420 soils. Kinda like promix as stated above.
Watering and frequency as well as nutes will be a learning curve for you.
Depending on if you soil has buffers in it you may need to pH you may not.
1st 4-5 weeks your plants shouldn't need nutes added. Soil should have enough.

Welcome to the simpler of the 2 imo.
I agree. Plus I hear you get that rapid growth in coco just like hydro, and more control over the plants uptake.

On the contrary OP.. I use Fox Farm soils. Already pre-loaded with plenty of food to last weeks.
I use bottled nutes to feed.
Happy Frog is a decent soil from seedling to harvest, but I transplant into Ocean Forest after the seedling stage.
Much more food in the soil to last me a good month.

You'll love it, I go 3 days without even looking at my plants. Ive used every kind of potting mix there is and get the same results, ( every potting mix Ive ever seen has a PH of 6.3-6.6 with buffers inside) inside) If possible Id go to a greenhouse or nursery and buy bags of what their homemade mix is.. Or you can spend twice as much dough and buy Fox farms or happy frog.

My favourite soil is Pro Mix Organic Vegetable & Herb blend. I start in 500 ml pots (peanut butter tubs really). Used to be I'd up pot to 1 litre pots 3 or 4 weeks later, then to 3 litre for about 4 weeks, then to 10 litre a few days before flip. No nutes needed until about half way through flower.
Growing outside the plants go through the nutes in the new soil in about 2 weeks, so I use Mega Crop now instead of continuously up potting. Go from 1 litre to 15 (that's about 4 gallons).
I prefer growing straight in the ground outdoors though.
I agree with @Wattzzup. As long as you don't go nuts and buy cactus blend or something from the dollar store most soil will be pretty comparable. I've never used FF soils though. Not sure where it's even sold up here. Amazon wants $75 for a 42 litre bag of FFOF, while I can get a 28 litre bag of the Pro Mix I mentioned for $9 at Canadian Tire.
