For starters hello and thanks for taking the time to look at my post:

Ok so my question is would a 5 gallon bucket (the 3 dollar ones at home depot) be large enough to turn into a water reservoir? I will be watering less than 3 plants at a time using a drip method. i chose the bucket due to not having a large area to place a 20 gallon green tot. Would this be enough water to supply my plants with everything they need? Also i'm tackling this grow set up one stage at a time ive grown in soil and outside in the past; but, due to having no land to call my own I think growing inside is the next best thing. I would like to believe that I've done proper research but I still need help with the little things.

As always thank you for the help.

I suspend five gallon buckets to drip feed my moms on valves and timers. This will work with soil also. I don't use a bubbler on this either. If the res needs to be bigger say because I won't be there for a while I'll add more buckets(at the same level) and join them with syphoned hoses(no holes). As the main bucket drains, the extra buckets will drain into the main bucket through the syphoned hoses and the level in all the buckets will stay the same as it is being discharged. I use the bucket system to top up the res for the budders also.
