New White Widow grower

Hi,

I just got my White Widow seeds in and need a couple of questions answered if anyone could help.

1.What kind of soil should i use?
2.How many hours of light does the plant need for the first 6 to 8 weeks before i change to 12/12?
3.If i dont have a hps light right now can i just use a florescent light for a week or two until i can buy an hps light and reflector?
4.Is there a way to tell the difference between the male and female seeds?
