I just noticed today the first signs of the trichomes turning a reddish brown. Anyone have an idea if my Jamaican girls are getting close and what I should be doing about now with em'.
Been feeding them Fox Farms nutes for soil a cpl of times a week and straight rain water when they're dry inbetween nute feedings. Been growing in 7 gallon pots transplated from spackle buckets about 3 weeks ago. It's starting to get colder out...in the lower 70's ish. Might need to build a small greenhouse over them. How long does anyone think I'll need to go with my three girls?
Thnks y'all

hmmm....hard to tell with those pics, but i'd let em go for a few more weeks, alot of strains tend to explode in mass in the last couple weeks for flowering, usually around 6-8 weeks into flowering

3-4 weeks. Wait till all the hairs have browned and the overall "look" is ripe. You are growing outside so the sun accelerates the degradation of THC causing them to amber prematurely. If you see a black tricomb cut her down immediately!
the stages of color go from clear-milky-amber speckled-full amber-black

Here's a few more from a few days ago..
Thanks for all the replies. I had a feeling I needed a few more weeks. they just turned that reddish brown color today (Saturday). I had a feeling being they're grown out doors speeds up the color process especially in this cooler weather.
Looks like I better get busy building a small green house around em' within the next week.
thanks again!
It's three plants btw.. two about four feet tall and one about six feet and not as full as the other two but flowering non the less

Looks like it's supposed to get cold starting this weekend so figured I better get goin' on building my three girls a warm place to finish maturing. As a newb I'm not real sure but I figure they prolly have another three weeks or so??
I also bought a hand held lighted microscope at Radio Shack for $13 (see...I'm gettin' into it : ) and the trichomes look to be pretty clear so far. Pretty cool seeing them. Takes a little practice getting that thing to work outside with my head in my plants while trying not to touch or disturb them too much. The tip of my microscope sure got sticky though.

OK..so dig these photos. cost me about $20 in materials and about three hours work. Very portable when I wanna take it down and store it.
All I did was drill some 1" holes in a deck I have to replace anywayz and slipped in 1/2" PVC pipe. I also used connectors to add 5' of additional PVC on to get some nice height (5'-+).

I'm figuring if I have to I can put one of my electric oil filled heaters that are on a thermostat in there and set it on low..or whatever it takes being careful of my extension cord naturally. Wouldn't wanna start a fire now

Right after I finished building them their home the sky opened up and rain came a POURING down....
...you can see in the last photo the rainwater pouring off the tarp cover I have next to the greenhouse I built...must mean the Gods luv us....Rasta-far-i-a :bigjoint:

Pretty sweet little greenhouse. Make sure you still got some ventilation of all the moisture will still rot your buds. The humidity will still be high.

the one plant looks like 3 more weeks...the other looks more like 5 weeks left.....can only see 2 of the 3

Yeh..that one plant in front is way behind the other two for some reason. Probably b/c it was growing taller while the other two were growing flowers.
Here's more photos that I took about a week ago..the last photo with the plant on the ground is the tall one that started flowering late. the other two are about exactly the same in development.
