Newbie Error - drowned and nuked my seedlings...

Damn! This is my first time growing hydro and I killed them. Well... we'll see... maybe they'll be OK?

I did my usual thing and wrapped the seeds in damp tissue for 24 hours, I was very surprised to see all four seeds had a tap root showing already.

Anyway, I dropped them in to the rock wool cubes soaked in 1/4 strength solution at 5.8. They sprouted out and then stopped growing, I left them a day or so and started getting worried, so did some more reading.

Turns out first mistake is using a nutrient solution, I read that you only need to start giving nutrients in the 2nd week?

Second mistake was the rock wool was too wet. I squeezed them and a ton of water came out.

Anyway, I made up some tap water and got the ph to 5.8. I soaked the cubes with this water and squeezed them out a few times to flush the nutrient solution out and then put them back under the light.

I'm praying over the next few days they start growing again. In the past couple of hours they've straightened back up again and are pointing up towards the light, so I'm guessing that's a good sign.

Any tips on gauging how wet your rock wool should be?

Cheers,
J.
