Newbie needs advice on stealth grow room set-up

Hi everyone.
I've been lurking on here for ages and everyone's passion have totally inspired me to grow. just come across a great place to set up a stealth box, but it has one major drawback..its height!
So I need some advice...

proposed grow box is 5' wide, 2' deep, but only 2' tall...thinking this could limit growth.

Plan is for 3-5 plants, in soil mix, with 6-8 45w CFLs (could stretch to more if advised - despite extensive trawling, i'm still usure of the optimum wattage per plant when using CFLs) ventilation and power supply are great, no problems there.

I know i'll need rigorous LST to keep plant height low. Also don't mind pushing for early flowering (i'm after quality rather than quantity...but who isn't?). several other options have occurred to me;
1) To maximise available height, choose long, wide, but low pots... in the available space I could probably get nearly 40 gallons of actual pot volume, but with a total pot height of 5-7 inches, rather than conventional narrower, but deeper pots. My working theory is that this will promote roots to spread horizontally. Is this a good idea?...will it lead to root-bound plants or other complications?
2) lighting location; Side lighting vs. top lighting? I know i'll need some top lighting to promote growth, and optimal top positioning could help control plant height, but some advice on optimal light positioning would be great.
3) Strain choice; would prefer to grow a Sativa (Super Lemon Haze, Super Silver Haze etc) as its my fav. but recognise that lower Autoflowers (Pakistan Ryder, Afghan Kush Ryder etc) might be better for the space....realistically, could a SLH or SSH be LST'd to the space suitably? also, how easy is LSTing Autoflowers, given the short veg. time?

Thanks guys...i know its loads of noob-y questions, but some specific advice would be greatly appreciated.

You need to put this box on its side so its 5' tall :) haha :bigjoint: then you can do some damage. Not sure what you can do with 2' of space and you still need to put in lights. I am sure someone here has something as small as this and I hope they can help.

ahhh...would if I could dude...would be a deff. solution, but its a built-in cupboard...its awsome as its mega discrete, lockable, good power, ventilation etc, but can't just casually re-orient it!
