newbie question on equipment

I have spent hours and hours reading this site, and others. Let me first tell you i've really gotten a lot of information from this one particularly. Mainly due to the forums. its great. (only thing i'd like more of is specific equipment. where I can get it, and also fertilizer and stuff. specifics on brands or what not. the few brand mentions i've seen I cant find anywhere. heh.)

Anyways I just had a quick question about equipment. seems that a popular favorite is the 400w MH, or 400w HPS lights.

I found this on ebay and it almost seems too good to be true in terms of price, is there a hidden line that im missing. is this not what I want?

I shopped all over homedepot and walmart. No MH, or HPS available. so currently im using 4 40w flourecents 4100k t12's.

One of my sprouts looks beautiful....the other not so much. like it curled on the ground a bit. I dunno. we will see though.

I just want to do it right and get me a good light.

advice on the ebay item please.

the light is exactly what your looking for and they cost £90-120 here in England, 1 thing though, when i bought my 400w hps , it was not long before i was needing to upgrade to a 600w hps as a 3m2 is perfect for that kind of area space , good luck hope i helped (=

i would agree with the 600 watt. i prefer 1000's but it's all up to what your space can handle heat wise. the diff in heat between the 400 and 600 is minimal. bigger=better imo.

Ive started with a 250w as i have a small cupboard... like the folks on here say - it depends on your area size

as a general rule...

250w covers 3ft x 3ft
400w covers 4ft x 4ft
600w covers 6ft x 6ft
