Newbie SCROG Grow...Trimming Under The Screen?

I am doing my first SCROG grow using an aeroponics system and a homemade screen created from a picture frame. My clones are female King's Kush and White Widow. I started training my plants late in the vegatative growth cycle, so the stems are trained lengthwise and through the screen, but I have about a foot and a half of leafy plant under the screens. I just changed my lighting to 12:12, and have tiny flowers forming. My question is about trimming leaves under the screen....should I trim or should I let them be? It seems that trimming under the screen might force more energy utilization up to the tops. On the other hand, I dont want to weaken or stress the ladies. I have already removed any dead leaves, but I still have a lot of leafy growth and side shoots under the screen. Some light is still penetrating below the screen although the screen is now pretty full. Overall, since this is my first SCROG...I want it to be successful. :leaf:

What do expert growers do?

Trim under the screen and try to get good air flow under the screen to prevent mold. This is what scrog is for, to get all the light to budding sites, then remove all excess growth so buds gets all the light and plant energy at once. I use my under cuttings for clones.
