Hey y’all,
A few months ago, I received a bag of bud with no seeds removed and decided to try and sprout one. I have never grown anything in my life although I live in the South (7a Hardiness zone) on a lot of acreage and have a general understanding of crop needs. After tucking the seed into some peat moss and saturating it with water, I was honestly a little surprised to see two little leaves emerge and reveal two more. I knew that I was risking the chance that the plant would ultimately reveal to be a male since I didn’t have any knowledge of their source. I convinced myself to at least see if I could manage to keep a plant alive and develop some horticulture skills at the least. I planted the peat moss base into a well churned and fertile section of pasture on March 26th, a date which I now understand to be too early for my solar region. (I chose outdoor growing because, again, I didn’t know if there would be flowers in the end. I was going to treat it like I would have treated a corn stalk I was growing).
This is the planted sprout
At this point, I honestly forgot about my poor little girl for a bit because my ventures into things of this nature usually don’t pan out. But after no attention from me for about a month, I returned on 4/20 to find this in the soil patch
This development made me excited and reminded me of my goal to keep the plant alive. I cleared the nearby brush that had begun to creep back in to allow all the sun and air my plant needed. I let the roots have a few weeks to develop and grab some soil, then transplanted into a bucket with potting soil. Between 4/20 and May 26, the plant grew rapidly and appeared vibrant
May 26th
Since then, I have just been allowing the plant to receive the light it receives without a real plan to force flower. I have been anxiously awaiting signs of sex to appear and answer the nagging question. Over the past week, I believe some might be coming in. The rest of the pictures are from today, and are the only real information I have to share. In fact, as a newbie, I was hoping others could glean enough information from them to guide me ahead. My main questions would be:
1. Can the plant be sexed yet?
2. What stage am I most likely seeing?
3. Does anything appear out of order concerning the health or overall appearance of the plant other than that it is wind blown and sun stretched?
4. What would you do next?
Thank you in advance
