Would you put your autos on 12/12 after a month from germination? At this point they’re about 6 inches tall..
 
No.......give autos as much light as you can..........switching an auto to 12/12 is unnecessary........that's why they call them autos.
 
Only reason I have a dark cycle on my autos is to foliar feed. Best to spray at lights out. I spray with Cal/mag in veg.

If you ain't doing that just run 24 on

You can ABSOLUTELY grow autos under 12/12. Check out my diary. I've done it twice, from seed. It's not recommended because it does lessen your yield, and could possibly reduce bud density. But potency will still be on point.

Of course you can...it is just not the best option for reasons you yourself stated.

Currently doing 20/4 myself
