bro funny you say that. i had the same strain from the same place. it is maybe the phenom possibly. I have found that nirvana doesn't have the best genetics. I wanted the nice lavender tooo and only experienced it once with the same seeds

Phenotypes 101:

Let's pretend you were a grower/breeder:mrgreen:

if you had 2 strains, both with desirable attributes, and you wanted to cross the two in order to get a combination of the good characteristics.

let's say it was Northern lights #5 and Skunk #1

you would take the female NL and pollinate it with male Skunk pollen (or vice-versa) and the result would be called an F1 hybrid. if you then planted the seeds you got as a result of your cross typically you would have 2 or 3 "phenotypes" plants would lean more toward one parent or the other in the traits that they express, and some may be a nice mixture of the traits you enjoyed about both parents.

often times the seeds you purchase from seed banks are these F1 crosses. breeders take one flavor, mix it with another, and then call it something new.

if you then take a male and a female from that same F1 stock and cross them you create an F2 hybrid. contrary to what logic would suggest this step usually creates a wider array of phenotypes than the initial F1 cross. it is at this point where a keen eye and a sound understanding of your plants becomes the key to success. expert breeders with a goal in mind will then grow out large numbers of their F2 crosses. selecting only the plants that demonstrate the type of traits they desire to bring out and continue to cross and re-cross the successing generations. sometimes bringing back one of the parents to enforce certain characteristics.

stability in the offspring (1 main phenotype, or new custom strain) is achieved at or after the F7 generation. at that point you have your own new strain, that hopefully someday someone will use it to create their own F1:hump:

.........back to my original statement..
it is my understanding that nirvana uses the F1s that they carry from other seed companies to create F2s that they then package and sell under the same name at a discounted price. not bad genetics... just more phenotypes.

if i tought you something, give me a +rep.

i've never heard of an s1.. although i had never heard of a scrog until i joined this forum. as to your other question, what do you mean? is it better to f1 or does it matter?? if you mean; are f1s better to use? then my response would be, are you looking for uniformity or variety?

same here i got 400 watt hps and bout 150 watts of cfls spread throughout the box. the first plant basically stretched zero, pretty amazing. the second one is taller than the pic gives it credit for, but still not that tall. i vegged them something like three weeks+, so i was expecting alot taller plants.
