Noise outside too loud from extraction.

Hi, I'm using 2 carbon filters to extract heat and smell from my room, what i have done is i have drilled straight through the wall outside to fit the two ducting pipes through. On the outside the whole area is covered with wooden decking, so the ducting is 100% hidden from sight, but it sounds like I've got a jumbo jet stuck under the decking lol, the fans are on a slow speed so i dread to think what it sounds like on 100% or something. Anyway i can stop it from sounding so loud? I mean i can always pull them back in and extract to a separate room, but i would prefer for all of the heat to go straight outside. I just need to somehow make it quieter!

you can look online and find a 'silencer'. there is always a sound when air is being pushed/pulled around. I improvised: standard plastic container, packing peanuts, insert fan, hook up fan, tape lid down, done. Cost: $20 (peanuts were 10, container 10). works pretty good. there is also stuff that stereo guys use to stop vibration in cars. buy some of that and tape your fan with it. There are usually 2 sources of noise: the fan itself, the ducting u use. i use flexible, insulated ducting: works great. i am sleeping in the lung.

all is good, peace

Avoid kinks and bends, fit rubber washers and cords so vibration don't make noise, streamline the interior

Longer duct often reduces noise. A duct muffler helps also. I have a 12" thats loud by itself but when in ductwork you can hardly hear it.

sorry man, do you live in a legal state and are a legal grower? the only reason I ask is because any exhaust you put outside your house that is detected by flir they don't have to have a court order to use. its outside, thus not invading privacy. just a thought. you can do a silencer or just a dryer type turn down. the vent that goes to the outside of the house.

Oversized insulated ducting does wonders when used with fans, mufflers, carbon filters, and acoustical fan boxes.
