Now that commercial marijuana is readily available...

...I mean to those in the ever-increasing number of places....Do you think that interest in smoking it is decreasing, increasing or staying the same as it ever was?

For me, personally, I know I can access it anytime -either through my own growing or by going to a rec. store. At first, it was great because, "Look at me! I'm buying marijuana in a store!"and all that....but I dunno...It's like the "exotic" nature of it went away and now it's just another commodity in the world. I think that, if it were't for my interest in growing it, I might not even smoke it, anymore.

Thoughts?

I realize that the trend in more and more states voting to legalize, decriminalize, etc., IS an indication of increasing interest, but I mean for the people who now know the feeling of...I dunno....not having to work to score it anymore. I now drive past many legal stores with empty parking lots when I look....but most of the time, I pass so many places, they don't even register.

I spent many rainy evenings in parking lots, somewhere, pretending to be checking my map or something, waiting for "the man" to show up and HOPE it was some good bud. If you knew a dude who always had the good quality, then you were lucky. Most of the time, you were over a barrel. But, having said that, it was like getting a little bag of treasure, sometimes.

Stores are overpriced and full of overhandled weed. I hate when the bud tenders think they know more then me about weed too. Had one guy tell me the ash will be white on all the product because they don't buy weed that hasn't been flushed. Smh that's the same nonsense @fdd2blk was spreading a few years ago.#bull$hit

I'm still looking forward to my first time buying from a dispensary. I'm still one of those hardcore black market growing dudes, those laws haven't changed since MMJ has come to town...
when me and a couple friends visited colorado last year it was really cool being able to buy over the counter in the daylight and legally. after we left our first dispensary i am looking at my friends walking down the street, each with our little stapled paper bags when one of my friends says, damn, i keep wanting to look over my shoulder and shit. this is great, walking down the street with an ounce of weed and it's legal. lol...

i too live in dumbfuckville. someday !!!!!

I went through the dispensary excitement too. I tried so many strains for too much money a few grams at a time.

Problem was almost none of it compared with the weed I smoked all my life. It sucked usually and even if it looked good it didn’t really get me high for long.

Tried a few caregivers. Greed ruined their product more and more over time.

I have always had good black market connections before I moved to mi. Here there were dispensaries newer caregivers and street brick weed.

I also developed a coughing up black stuff problem I now know to be improperly dried flowers was the cause. Maybe even mold.

So I learned how to grow myself and am much happier now.

Old people, my consistent observation is an abundance of straight up elderly fucks asking a million questions at the grow stores.

The few times i have been in a dispensary same deal. Old people.

So i see the retired as new smokers.
Or some of them probably dabbled and gave it up for their careers and now they can use again.

Commercial weed sucks.

One of my favorite things about good old illegal weed was how it made half an hour feel like forever. But with commercial weed I spend so much time fast-forwarding through the commercials that the effect is ruined. I especially hate smoking a Sativa-dominant and getting hit by some chirpy number suggesting I unload my structured settlement.

I went through the dispensary excitement too. ......snip.......
I looked into weed as a substitute for opiates for chronic pain. The last time I had used it was about 35 years prior. So I did some searches on the 'net. Ended up here and read some of the grow forums. At that point I realized dispensary weed would poison me. I started growing.

edited to add: *opiates for

It is what they say happened in Holland, the uptake in smoking weed by teenagers is lower than in many other countries, iirc, because decriminalization meant the same "thrill" of doing something naughty isn't there, they like to say they made weed "boring"

It's better than it was in the '60's when weed started to become widespread and popular.

Anything that makes it accepted and at least partially semi-Iegal can't be bad.

I remember a girl asking the prof in a business law class when weed would be legal in 1972. He said not until they have a test that proves you're stoned when a cop pulls you over.

I've been an outlaw all my life at this point, no use changing now. Total nonviolent decriminalization would be nice. It would also empty prisons by 33-50% and there's some people who just aren't going for that. Ask our current AG who says, 'If I was sick, I sure wouldn't use marijuana to get better'.

You'd be amazed how many people still think a 1936 movie (Reefer Madness) is the accurate narrative on weed. And some of them never even saw the movie, they just know it's bad from the propaganda the believe.

Our first "legal" rec dispensary in the county is due to open late next month, we'll see how that goes. IMO "legalization" has only benefited the casual, personal user (which isn't bad at all) but that's it. Six plants growing is it; problem is that most jurisdictions prohibit outdoor, so there are defacto required expenses, i.e. light equipment, energy, etc. It blows for legal growers

I fear what happens to my medical plant count of rec happens here this year. And I have to pay $200 for my license now to renew. But it may mean nothing in January.

Now that commercial rec cannabis is available: a local dispensary has 1/2oz of sativa-dominant flower for $34 (Sunday special). Enjoy your Independence Day everyone.

Can't wait until it is legal everywhere, haven't needed or wanted the thrill of sneaking in 35 years, although I guess I will always be illegal 6 plants? Screw that I love variety and don't want or need to grow trees or bushes (which would be the only way 6 plants would supply the wife and I). I feel bad for the folks who go from rooted clone to flower, bad enough for me on a 3 - 4 week veg cycle.
