NUMBER 216's MICRO GROW kiss-ass
Hey RIU. A while back I started a journal on my second attempt at growing. It didnt gather much attention so I stopped updating it. Now I am opening up this thread so you guys can see my progress and so you can help me navigate the rough waters of the Flowering ocean xD
THE LAST PICS ON EACH SECTION WERE TAKEN TODAY (12/14/2012)
This are the two plants I have right now. They are named Danny and Hope. I hope you guys can help out with some questions I have. My first grow attempt was a spectacular failure and I have never been this far along in the grow cycle. And I apologize ahead of time for the long descriptions. I am trying to be as detailed as possible while bringing you guys up to date on how the plants have been behaving since sprout. But yeah enough talking. On to the pics!
Danny surprised me from the very beggining. While she is younger than Hope, her growth has been amazing. She quickly outgrew Hope, especially after her first set of leaves were trimmed off (further explained in her section) She has always been very sturdy, with her growth only being stunted when she outgrew her 4" pot. All that went away once I placed her in the 1 gallon pot where she is now.
However, something worries me a bit. If you look at that last picture, you can see that the leaves arent as green as they should be. It looks like in between the veins its lighter green or something. Is this normal or are these signs of a deficiency? I currently feed her with HEAVILY diluted 30-10-10 ferts. She hasnt shown any signs of nute burn yet.

Hope started out with a big and very promising first set of leaves. However, as she grew, the first set started yellowing. Not in sections like I usually see in deficiency guides, but the entire leaf started uniformly turning lighter and lighter green until it was yellow. I got scared that it was a disease or something and that it could affect the whole plant so I trimmed the leaves off (mistake I know)
After that the yellowing didnt return but the growth was always slow and weird shaped. I dont know if you can tell from the pictures but you compare her to Danny, Hope's leaves seem to be weird. Some blades are bigger and some are smaller. I thought this might be due to it having outgrown her pot like Danny did, so I put her in a 6" pot (not enough soil left to fill up a 1 gallon pot and I am BROKE) and it showed some signs of improvement but the growth remained weird and uneven.
A few days ago her bottom fan leaves started turning yellow from the tips first spreading towards the inside of the leaf. I couldnt find anything that resembled what I was seeing other than nitrogen deficiency so I started feeding her the same nutes as Danny. One of the fan leaves actually fell off after turning completely yellow, but the other one stopped changing colors so I am thinking that the feeding fixed the problem.
Lately I have been considering whether to kill her or keep her in case Danny turns out to be a male. Whether her slow and weird growth is caused by deficiencies or just bad genetics, I do not know. But if you know about someone or you have had a plant grow like this yourself, please dont hesistate to share your experience.
