hey everyone, my plants been turning brown for the past 5 days, ive been told it could either be a nute burn or heat stress because temps are really high in Socal.. outdoor grow! mircacle grow soil! 4 month old!
i flushed my plant with plenty of water, it should be my 4th day flushing and problem keeps getting worse. the brown stuff is infecting the top leaves now so im guessing my plant is in threat to dying!although its still growing slowly....

its nute burn i bet that mg soil has slow release nutes so every time you think your flushing your actually feeding more.did you take them from indoor and then move outdoor or are those different plants. i say that because in one pic( in buckets) its tall and no lower leaves then the next is in ground and bushy

Hey fellow grower, never use miracle grow on your ladies! I know you probably added more nutes to your soil too. You can't use miracle gro soil and add extra nutes because that stuff is time released, thus if your adding your own nutes and the nutes that are already present in the miracle gro soil, you will have nute burning..ouch!!! JUst feed with plain ole' water until new plant growth emerges and "listen" to when your plant needs feeding. KEEP SMOKE ALIVE!!!

when i flushed it i put it over a bbq grill and drained it.... ive been hearing from everyone to flush using this method, i didnt know im feeding it more.

and there is no indoor plant, im growing one outdoor plant. i just had it hidden in bushes that are not weed!

so how can i PROPERLY FLUSH MY PLANT?

i have never used slow release soil but i would think that everytime you flush it it would release more thats how they work. normaly you would run 2 to 3 times the water as the amount of soil. let drain an hour or so then give a 1/4 mix of nutes. but dont add more it is already in the soil. if you have flushed 4 days in a row i would think that you didn`t use enough water, cause it should have been dead ( drowned). it should take a few days to dry up after and nothing to drink at all during that time. it needs to dry almost to the point of wilting before you give another drink.

how long have you been using that soil in pot?

You are not lisening to them.

A. your plant has nute burn..... aka getting to many nutes.
B. you are using MG which has slow release ferts
C. When you add water to your MG soil it releases ferts.
D. the more water you add the more ferts realease
E. So when you "flush" the plant to get rid of nutes you are actually giving it more. and when you have nute burn....... thats the last thing you want is more.
F. What i suggest you do is give it a few days to almost completely dry out(dont let it get bone dry)
G. Then add water but not to much..... with MG soil you have to add the right amount. If water comes out the bottom then you put to much. Thats why you need to get normal soil with no slow release nutes.

i hope that cleared it up for you abit made each point have a letter not to be rude but to make it more clear. Good luck and i hope she bounces back up.

And if i am wrong with anything io had said could someone let me know and explain why i was wrong thanks (im still learning myself)

how long ago did you do the last flush. i would let it dry up then just water for the next 1 or 2 feedings and watch it. if it stays the same (not worse) it should be ok. i would also recomend when using nutes the next couple feedings stay at 1/4 mix. the nutes in the soil say they are done in 3 months, but if it has hot spots in it (heavy nute erea) you will be in the same boat again. do you have a ph tester ( cheepo is about $7.00)

no ph tester, but i checked on it now it now and it hasn't get any worse! still growing and the soil was already pretty moist so i did water it. thanks for the advice!

get rid of a few of the realy bad leaves and mabee on some average ones cut the bad outer ends off. it wont repair those damaged ones. dont take to many at once.

ur plant looks kinda small for 4 months old and u never know for MG soil thats why i enevr use it i make my own medium with perlite n soil always works good BUT IMO that looks like a sever case of heat stress since the edges of all ur leafs are turnig colors but at the same time can be nut burn

you cant judge how much to water by nutes.

how big are pots.
how old are they
what strain
environment and on and on and on
i have 2 to 3 gallon pots and i water every 4 or 5 days, depending on the soil and plant uptake.
when the soil gets dry about 2 to 3 inches down then water. wet/dry is most important. get to know the weight of pots when they are wet and then dry, and pay attention to that.
