Nute question: Dr. Jimz "Chicken Soup for the Soil" Opinions?

Since I'm going to have 10 plants all in different stages, I'm thinking through the nutrient schedules. I've been using the 3-part GH system with good success, but I'd like to try and simplify the process if at all possible.

Has anyone ever used this?

Welp....looks like I'm the first then. Got it yesterday, and I'm going to give it a whirl. I'll post updates if I have anything good/bad to report.

Just the Chicken Soup. Been using it, with the addition of Cal/Mag for about 20d now, and my plants have never looked happier. (I've got one plant towards the end of flower, and she's starting to yellow, but that's not the chicken soup's fault.)

My first full grow with it will be complete in another 60d or so, so I'll let you know what I think then. Lots easier than mixing the 3-part for plants in 3 different stages though, so it's simplified things a lot for me.

Just an update on this, in case anyone is listening...

I've started two Blueberry Autos, and two White Widow autos. I'm feeding one of each the GH 3-part (plants on the right), and one of each the Chicken Soup (plants on the left). Going to see which one ends up better. So far, the Chicken Soup looks better. But time will tell.

NOT that the GH 3-part are the best nutes, but it's what a lot of newbies start with. It'll be interesting to see the side-by-side results in the same environment.

From my 3-week experiment so far with the rest of my plants, the Chicken Soup is a lot easier to use. Just 1 TBSP (14.7cc) in each gallon of water and feed away. No mixing different amounts depending on the growth stage. Since I'm running a perpetual grow, this is important and makes feeding a LOT easier.

No need for brewing it? Just add a tbsp and feed right away? What about when it comes time to switch over to flowering? Still one tbsp?

I always look at the ingredients in a product as do many others. It's typically not hard to replicate anything you can buy.

This stuff is made from:

Alfalfa meal, molasses, rock phosphate, milk whey, langbeinite, seaweed extract derived from Ascophyllum nodosum "Norwegian Kelp" and potassium hydroxide "lye".

Nothing there is bad. Although I have had people raise their eyebrows when I told them I used to use lye as a pH up. But overall it isn't anything people haven't been making themselves for years. It's basically just a concentrated tea. But there could be other ingredients not listed on the label. It says 1 oz per gallon every two to three weeks in soil. So a gallon will make 128 gallons. For the price that seems reasonable for those that want an off the shelf product. I just can't get past the infomercial look of the website and the "Testimonials". Gives me a used car salesman vibe. Many of the people in the organics section are making their own similar products and some are having great success with their grows. I have everything in that ingredient list on hand myself.

I emailed "Dr. Jim" and got the response that for cannabis, I could use it for every feeding, so that's what I've been doing. No signs of nute burn at all for the 4 weeks I've been using it on all of my plants. In fact, I was feeding daily for a while there, not realizing that I'm not supposed to feed with every watering. (Still a newb here.)

I just add 15cc per gallon of water, and stir it up for 30sec...add Cal/Mag....pH the water....mix some more...water the plants. So far, so good. I'm doing every other watering now, as I may have been wasting it.

This was today. You can see a difference in the CS plants vs. the GH plants. They look to be 2-3 days ahead of the GH plants. Not exactly scientific, but I'm seeing results.

It will be interesting to see the results but, keep in mind that the only way to really know if it will work better for you, would be to do the test you are doing on clones from the same mother.

I 100% agree. Unfortunately, I only grow Autos, so I can't do that. It's why I said it "wasn't exactly scientific."

I AM, however, growing one each Blueberry and White Widow from the same Seedbank, so this is as close as I can get given the circumstances. All 4 seeds were germinated on the same day and given the same conditions since the tap-roots started. Only difference is the nutes I'm using.

So this is as close as I can get to being scientific. Someone should try the same experiment with clones some day.

Wow thanks for the reply! I've been trying to find some info on the chicken soup for a while now. Yeah, I'm a newbie as well!! So much information out there, you think you've found the right info then someone else has something bad to say about it. Mixed opinions I guess. Excited to see how your plants turn out!!

Three days later and the CSFTS plants are still outperforming the GH plants. No issues with decencies or anything to speak of yet. Just water yesterday, and the'll get another round of nutes tomorrow or Wednesday. (I'm going one watering on...one watering off with the nute schedule.)

CS plants on the left, GH-3P on the right. Day 16 of Veg since sprouting. Both are on the same feeding schedule. 1 day of nutes, 1 day of water.

Wow the cs ones are looking great. There like twice as big. Does the cs have a sent? Does it stain?

Plants: Easily 2X bigger.
Scent: Yes. It smells like hell, actually.
Stain: Some has dripped on my wood bench, and it definitely stains it. It's also untreated butcher-block wood though, so anything stains it.

might have to order this and give it a shot. How was the shipping from the website? or did you buy in person?
