I would suggest using the Fox Farms line up of nutrients. you can use this feeding schedule to help decide what nutrients to buy and when to feed your plants. http://foxfarmfertilizer.com/FoxFarm-Soil-Schedule.pdf. I would suggest buying Big Bloom, Grow Big, and Tiger Bloom. You Shouldn't feed you plants until the fourth week from seed. If you are worried about height restrictions I would suggest an Indica dominant strain or an Auto.
The kind of nutes you provide has nothing to do with height restrictions.
If you only have so much height prune around the time you flip em so the plants put out 4-6 main colas.
They shouldnt be that high.
Agree with dannyboy, I have a few 12/12 from seed grows under my belt, and you can feed them with any nutes. What you will have to do is LST, topping or some other technique to keep the plants short.
